It is a CC that my pregnate wife forgot to pay, everything else we are up to date on. We had just moved and it fell through the cracks so to speak. Yes it is behind now, but we can not just write a check to pay ti off. I am working three jobs to pay it off and hope to be able to do so in 2 or 3 months. Not that it is that much just all the late fees add up...
Also to tell them no, what verbage should I use to make them go away? Ie By FTC rules, FCC, ect?
You should request validation first, make sure that what they sa
You should request validation first, make sure that what they say you owe is actually what you owe, also you should make sure they can legally collect on this debt and find out if your state requires a license/bond/etc to even collect in your state.
Even if you want to pay this off you should do these things, you don't want to pay them off and then have yet another collection agent say the exact same thing! Trust me on this..I have two collection accounts from two different collectors for the very same debt!
Tell them no call
Does it work to use the verbage from the fourm letters I found to tell them not to call you back at work?
Quote:
"REQUEST FOR CEASE AND DESIST OF CONTACT BY YOUR OFFICE: I would also like to request, in writing, no further contact, either in writing or telephone be made by your office to my home or to my place of employment, unless it is to provide validation or release of liability of the debt. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit." |

It should work, doesn't mean it will...some violate left and right and keep calling even after a cease and desist...just let em keep wracking up the violations.
