Same CAs reporting on the credit report

On my CR the are 4 entries all the same CA and all for the same bill. They just assigned 4 differant CA account #'s. I sent a letter to the CA to validate and mentioned that I found it interesting that all 4 accounts were for the same bill. I just received their response. There was only 1 account # on this response, Looks like the most resent that they had added. Bottom line the sent me a computer printout with their letter head and accross the top of the letter in large print VALIDATION. Not much detail, the name of the original creditor and the $ ammount owed. I do not owe this debt. My insurance company paid this. Is this legal what they are doing?

#1 dispute with cra' as a duplicate account.They are only allowed to list it once.Next send them another letter demanding validation as that statement is not even close. Please read this topic for an idea on what they should send you.

Dispute it with the bureau as well as the CA. Remember any negative information on your report can hamper your score. As per the FCRA, you are entitled to dispute every information that you are sure is false. So go ahead and exercise your rights.

If your insurance company paid this then you are going to need to call them and get a letter of reciept. It will help things go a lot faster in getting things removed from your CBR. They have until the cows come home to validate.
