Ohio Floods

My husband took a ton of pictures and I will post them as soon as he emails them to me. Luckily I don't know of any other part of Ohio that was affected like my town..........it has been crazy with the Today show, Good Morning America, The Weather Channel, etc here on the streets of our small town. There are so many people that have lost everything you wouldn't believe it. We are some of the lucky ones in that our neighborhood did not flood.

I really feel for you all, been there, done that!! When we flooded, the news stations broadcasted from our front yard, over waist deep! All of you are in my prayers..KAren :D

You are in my prayers also. I am glad that your property was spaired (sp??). This is just horrible.

I went to pick up my boys at the half-way meeting point with my ex today, in Ohio, near the PA border. We drove through some of the worst rainstorms I have ever seen, and I think we came as close to running through a tornado as I ever want to.

There were at least 4 cars that drove right off the road in the heavy rain because they couldn't see and the fools wouldn't slow down. :evil:

I came home to find the news talking about "severe storms hit Ohio today, many without power"....I was like DUH!!!!

SueBee...I am so glad your safe!! I have driven in storms like that....and had to pull over and run for cover during a tornado...luckily it touched down about a mile from where we hid in the bathroom of an old gas station...all 3 of us squeezed into a little room...it would have been funny if it hadn't been for the fear!!

I worry about our planet...we have had some very major changes in our weather in the last few years...

Sass and other Ohio people,I am glad you made it alright. Sue coming from a state like I live in,other people need to learn if the roadway is not visible then stay off of it.It is very easy to get washed right off the road and straight into a running river or canal.

Cajun is right, we live near a creek, and you wouldn't believe the people driving through flood waters and getting washed away!

A couple had to be rescued by helicoptet last week from this. If you don't see the street, don't drive!!

One young kid was jogging with his high school and was running through the flood waters, and got pulled under and drowned. I believe they said it only takes a few inches before it can pull you under..Karen

You would not believe the people that were driving through the water around here and ended up stranded no matter how many times they are repeatedly told not to do so. A lot of people were arrested for attempting it.

I know, Sass- they have to areest people here too. Some stupid parents even let theri kids play in the flood waters :shock: I guess people don't ralize that it isn't just water, it includes flooded sewer lines and all sorts of wonderfull things!!..KAren

So glad you're still with us! It figures...whenever there's a disaster, the media will pop up--kinda like cockroaches and rats, lol...hey, bet you get ANDERSON COOPER soon, lol!! (My kid does a great imitiation of him)

Thanks all - we're glad to have made it back safe. I thought for a few moments, we were going to have to take cover under an overpass or lie flat in a ditch because we were on the turnpike and there was nowhere to go in the case of a tornado. And it sure as heck looked like one could form just a couple of miles west of us. We would drive for about 25 or 30 miles with no problem, then all of a sudden the rain would start again, and then we'd see a car or two sitting in the ditch because they'd driven right off the road. We just slowed way down and turned our flashers on - we were going 30 at one point, and that was the max.

I don't know which is worse to drive in - a blinding snowstorm or rain so hard and fast you can't see through it. I don't much like driving in either.
