I'm from Oregon and against my better judgment I took out a payday loan about 2 months ago from total lending. I made my first payment (or so its called) wih no problems. The second payment was debited from my acct several days early causing $200 in fee's. I contacted my bank and disputed this item not as fraudulent but due to debiting the payment early. Prior to doing the dispute I tried contacting the company and left my number serveral times for a supervisor to call but. Nobody ever called so the payment was returned to them. I figured at that time they would contact me. They did not but some man with a very very heavy accent with a very american name (I mean no offense by this) claimed that he was going to have me arrested on Monday morning at my job. He instructed me not to contact total lending just to contact them. The name of the company he gave me was United Investigation Department of Law yet when looking up the number on Better Business Bureau it pulled up under United Federal Bank. I'm sorry I ever did the loan but was in need. Now I'm worried about going to work and being arrested. Can someone offer me help. I have no problem paying the debt but I do have a problem with my acct being debited days earlier than the arrangements.

The problem is, they usually will keep debiting the account whenever they want to. You won't be arrested, that's a threat they all use. Read the link about them, and you will see others who have had the samee threats and situations. They count on you getting panicked into paying them something you can't afford at the time..KAren

I read both the links you sent thank you. I'm just scared to go to work, which by the way the bank I bank with is who I work for, so I feel equally stupid for doing this since I know better. The thing that struck me odd about the calls I received yesterday was when I came home to research the company name that I was given I couldn't find anything but when I looked by phone number it pulled up United Federal Bank which isn't the name they gave me nor is it the company name used when they answer the phone. Everyone I spoke to had thick accents and names like Paul Walker. They had all my personal info and everything. When I searched further online for info on United Federal Bank there were serveral pages of stories like mine.

I have to say that it really angers me that some guy will make threats like that and scare a nice lady that way. We run into a little trouble in our lives and do what we think is best and this sort of thing happens. And you were not even trying to get out of anything. They were the ones who messed up. I cant wait for this first one who tries to pull this with me. I cant wait to twist it around on them.
"Oh someone is coming to arrest me? Which department? I will just go surrender at the station so they dont have waste manpower bringing me in, you know how busy they are. I guess I will need your name and other information so they can process me. Or better yet...do you want to meet me there?"
Think they will know how to respond?

You will not be arrested as Bossy stated. They are just trying to scare you.

You need to close your bank account because unfortunately they will continually try to take money from you from that account. Chances are they are outside of the united states. However, I have never dealt with them so I can't say for sure.

Someone that has much more experience than I will be coming around to give you advice. Hang in there.
