momuv...is this supposed to be a payday loan?? And their collection agency??
Your state lending laws are very vague...I will see if I can find anything...hopefully someone will come along soon with more info to help...
total lending
total lending is an internet payday loan and i had an issue with them. the united investigations states they are an attorney's office representing total lending. when i cross reference the phone numbers they gave me i get united federal bank. i should of never done it but needed to not with the intention of being told i'm going to jail. they sound shady but at this point i don't know what to do. the people at united investigations had very very heavy accents yet said there names were names like paul walker and things like that. i just am worried now. i don't think jail will be my thing

In my search for info under the names you supplied I didn't find anything for them listed however I did run accross an interesting article on payday lending in Oregon...dated 07/01/2007:

ok..please believe me ..these are indle threats! No payday lender can have you arrested..can you tell me how much the loan was for and how much they have taken against it?? Also please read the article I just posted...I would file a complaint with your state's attorney's office immediately...or call them Monday morning...
total lending
I remember that article. My concern at this point is jail. I don't know who the company contacting me is or how serious to take the threat. I'm tempted to miss work Monday to avoid something happening. I considered telling the party calling me to meet at my attorney's office if they would like to take me in as they phrased it. I have never heard of a warning before being arrested but you never know

I borrowed $250 and have made one payment of $75. the second payment was submitted prior to the due date causing fee's on my acct. I disputed it with my bank. Not because I didn't want to pay the debt but because they debited my acct early. Thats when all the threats with this other company started
ok..please believe me they can not, will not have you arrested..
ok..please believe me they can not, will not have you arrested...I just searched our google box at the top of the page for Total Lending...there are sevral threads about them...they are part of a payday group called GFSIL...I had a loan through them myself...they are an off shore based pdl and one of the most illegal...please search for yourself and see what some others have done..believe me they will not come knocking at your door...if you have been paying on this for awhile...you probably have paid the loan principle off...please relax..you will be ok.

I've only been paying since July. I did this against my better judgement but we all get in situations from time to time in life. I know these people will be calling first thing Monday and don't know what to do at this point. Considered paying extra to change my number

Can I please ask...how much did you borrow and how much was taken back...were you paying through your checking account?? Did you close your account...many of us here have done the same thing..most of us had multiple loans taken out..one to pay the next etc. Your not alone and we can help you...do you have an email address for them??
OK..I see your post about the loan...to pay back the principle y
OK..I see your post about the loan...to pay back the principle you would owe them $175. They will continue to try to debit your checking account so you need to have they block it...some banks will put a hard debit block on your account. Many fo us have had to close the account and open another to stop the debits. There is an info link at the top of this forum with info you will need to read about that. If you must take their call...try to explain and ask to make payment arrangements..I'm going to read some of the other posts on them to see how they respond...
ok...I know they can be a pain with all the calls etc..the next
ok...I know they can be a pain with all the calls etc..the next time you talk to these poeple tell them the gig is up...tell them you consulted an attorney or the state's attorney's office etc. and that you know you can not be arrested, etc. Tell them you will make payments to pay off the balance of the loan...they will probably request it be sent money gram or western union but you can insist on an address....my only fear is your cecking account...they still have your info and I wouldn't put it past them to keep debiting your account...so you do need to talk with your bank.
If you read here for awhile you will see we have all been through this kind of thing with our ipdls...you can take care of this...and be very grateful you only have one to clear. Your safe...

i tried to get detailed information from the man who called threatening to arrest me. i borrowed 250 and he was telling me i owed 1000 but he could help me resolve this. the payments are coming from my bank acct. i work for the bank i bank with. should i close the acct. i'm not trying to fraudulently do anything. i have no issues paying what i owe. when they called they knew all my personal information.
Since you work for this bank maybe you can explain the situation
Since you work for this bank maybe you can explain the situation...the faudulant activity and have them block it...otherwise I would close the account..but you have to check with your bank..sometimes when another debit comes through it forces open the account again and you can be hit with nsf charges then. You can email or fax the ipdl a cease and desist letter...revoking their permission to debit your account, demanding they deal with you by email instead of phone and revoking any wage assignments..

866-379-7667 fax
I found those numbers in a recent post about them...and I would definitely call your AG office or file a complaint asap...you can also file a complaint with the BBB...sometimes that can help to resolve a situation. Because of the new law in Oregon...I am betting the AG's office would be willing to help.

Okay, let's calm down here. First off, I have information regarding Total Lending. I have dealt with them. Here is direct contact information:
Total Lending, Inc.
8700 Stateline Road
Suite 305
Leawood, KS 66206
Phone: 1-866-412-2369
Fax: 1-866-379-7667
my direct contact email: jenni(at)totallendinginc.com
Second, this telephone call received regarding being a "collection agency" for Total Lending is bogus. This was previously discussed on a different thread a few weeks ago.
Honey, I checked the telephone number. It is a land line (unpublished) based out of Iowa. It's some foreign dude who calls people up (probably from his couch while sitting in his pajamas eating potato chips) and threatens them with arrest. I also googled the phone number. I got all kinds of information. This telephone number is associated with numerous threatening/illegal comments. All received by a foreign man with a thick accent claiming he was from some kind of US Bank or something like that. It was actually hilarious. You can do a search right here on the site and put in the name of the US Bank (or whatever he says the name is) and you'll probably find the posts regarding it.
You are NOT going to jail. Do not avoid work on Monday. No one is coming to get you. Unless the idiot in Iowa gets up off his couch and decides to fly to your state, get a warrent out for your arrest, wait for it to be served to you, and then tell you that you owe him $1,000 illegal dollars. I just really don't see this happening!
Please, please, please do not let this scare you. You are just one of thousands of people that this person is doing this to. Nothing is going to happen to you. If you want to, you can contact Total Lending directly. If they claim they did send you to collections, you ask them "what company". And, also, if you do contact them, please be sure to ask what name and license number they are operating under. That'll get them.
Take my word on this one. You are not going anywhere on Monday except to work and back home. No jail for you.

i'll tr that monday can you file the complaint with bbb and AG online or is it something you have to call in to do. do i file the complaint about total lending or the united investigation people.

mom, you can file with the BBB and the FTC on line. Very easy. Go to www.bbb.org and file. Then go to www.ftc.gov and file. You need to file with your state attorney general also. I just did a google search for my state attorney general. The site was there. I went to it, went under consumer protection, and they had a complaint form. In my state, I couldn't file on line. I had to down load the form, fill it out, and send 2 copies in. Which I gladly did! You need to file complaints on both. File one for Total Lending and their "business practices". File one on the idiot in Iowa regarding their "harrassment and threats". Please do this. And, please, do not be afraid. Nothing is going to happen to you. Hell, if someone was going to be hauled off to jail for illegal internet pdl's, it would have been me! LOL! And I'm still here on my computer! Not in jail.

The number that the people claiming to be coming to arrest me monday is 305-433-8364. they gave me a 954 number as well i think. the 305 number comes up as united federal bank out of florida i think. i found information on them i think on rip off reports or something like that. i know they will call monday and not sure what to say. the last conversation the poor english speaking man wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise

Yes, this is the information that comes up under the BBB. It also states the company's nature of business is "under review."
Use this address when filing your complaints. And, yes, you did see all the other people threatened by this so called company on rip off reports. But there are also many other posts regarding it other than just rip off reports. Tons.

ok filed the complaint...now what happens....do i try to contact total lending...i did try calling them a couple times when they debited my acct on the wrong date causing a large amount of fee's thats what started this whole thing. i disputed it with my bank not as a fraudulent charge but that they debited my acct on the wrong date. Never heard a word from anyone at total lending, after leaving 2-3 messages for a supervisor, the ony call came from the people threatening to arrest me Monday.

Try sending an email. You should get a response. I never spoke to them over the phone. I did all my communicating via email with them. I would certainly at least send an email and see if you get a response from them. If the idiot guy calls you again, hang up on him. Nothing will happen to you. You filed with the BBB, which is good. Now the BBB will contact Total Lending and the other "bogus" company. They give them a certain time period to respond. Once they respond to the BBB, the BBB will email you with the status. So it's just a waiting game for now. Did you also file with the FTC and your state AG?

Okay, you need to file with the FTC also. You can go to their website at www.ftc.gov. You can do it on line. You need to file with your state attorney general. Just do a google search for your state (oregon?) attorney general. The site will come up. Go under Consumer Protection and you can file a complaint. I would file complaints on BOTH Total Lending and the idiot who is harrassing you. Use the address I posted for the idiot who is harrassing you.

thanks for your help i feel a little better can't help but still be a little worried about being dragged away in hand cuffs Monday. I filed one with bbb already on united federal bank and one with AG on total lending I will finish the others tomorrow. all this has made my head hurt. I definately learned my lesson. I will never be this desparate again.

mom, it's work, but worth it. They need to be reported! Insane pdl's and their insane collectors! I'm just sorry you've been subjected to one of the worst "collection calls". Yuck. But, do not be afraid on Monday. Nothing is going to happen to you. As a matter of fact, on Monday, come back on here and post so that we'll know you're alive, home, and safe! LOL! And, as morningstarr was asking you, have you done anything regarding your bank account so that the pdl can no longer access your money?
I have done nothing as of yet wlll call the bank in the morning.
I have done nothing as of yet wlll call the bank in the morning. Then have to change all my direct deposits. It's not my work that will be hard I work for the bank I bank with. I have to change my child support as well as my son's adoption subsidy. It will be worth it. I did file a complaint with the bbb and my AG on both companies. I haven't filed a complaint with the FTC yet. I will log back on tomorrow. But my mind will definately be a little preoccupied tomorrow. If they do call to harrass me I'll just offer to meet them at my attorney's office. See what response I get then

mom, at least try to get your bank to block them, if nothing else, while you're getting a new account set up with all the other stuff you have to do. At least they won't be able to hit your account any further. And, if you do get that phone call, please tell Mr. Sitting On His Couch Eating Potato Chips that you will meet him downtown at the courthouse. Tell him you'll be wearing a red rose in your ear so he'll know it's you! LOL! And, be sure to file with the FTC whenever you get a chance! Just please post Monday when you've talked to the bank and let us know what's going on. And, also, if your "friend" calls you again. He may not even call! :D

I live in Oregon too! The laws here regarding pdl's just changed a couple months ago. They are VERY strict now!
Have you renewed these loans since July 1, 2007?
If you have, the laws are very specific. You wouldn't file with the AG, you file with the Dept of Banking in Oregon. The guy that used to be in charge just retired, but I am hopeful that the new guy will be just as helpful.

Hello. Well i did get a call at 4:57am this morning from the gentleman threatening to have me arrested and have not heard back since. I did however hear from total lending, who is initially who i took the loan from, and the state AG (or someone from the state). These loans were taken after 7-1-2007 and he was very specific to tell me that all i owed was the amount I borrowed and they couldn't take me to jail. Also stated neither companies were licensed. Informed me that if the collection type company called again to refer them to the oregon laws and hang up. I did eventually go to work after speaking with the man from the state. I felt much better.

Amen! Thank goodness! I'm so glad you're finally feeling relieved! Now you know for sure what you are doing. No question. So, now that you know your "illegal man" is truly illegal (told you he was sitting home in his pajamas!) are you going to contact Total Lending (who is not licensed, by the way) and inform them of your conversation with your state agency? See? You're not in jail! :D

Funny thing about total lending. I've tried to contact them for almost 2 weeks without any response. Now that I have filed complaints with BBB, FTC, and my states AG they finally called me this morning. They state my loan is now with their collection department called "ICOLLECT". I explained to them the situation regarding pajama man this weekend and everything he said. She stated they never gave any company by that name my information. I also informed them in writing and verbally that they were no longer authorized to debit my account. Also told them that in my state they were not licensed and what I owed them was $250 plus at the most a processing fee of less than $25. I think I surprised her on how much I knew. I was hoping, in a way, that the really rude man would call back so that I could put him in his place. I feel better about no jail but still regret taking the loan in the first place. Oh well lesson learned.

Mom, I'm in Oregon too and have been going through the same situation. I got lucky though and didn't have a threatening foregin pajama wearing couch man call me tellling me I'm going to jail. That must have been freightening.
Glad things are working out for you, and sorry I wasn't able to help with the advice sooner! But stick with all the advice here and don't feel bad any longer, we've all done it too. Good luck...

Ok does anyone know anything about I-Collect. That is the collection agency they sent me too. I'm still concerned because I saved the first voicemail I received from this man and he had all my information. Home address, SSN, and all. I'm going to contact the credit bureaus and notify them but someone having my address and all my personal information that I didn't authorize to have it is a bit unsettling. Not that he'll get off his couch in the west indies and come get me but still creepy. any other suggestions of things i can do to protect myself

You need to go to the search box at the top of this site page and type in icollect. A lot of posts came up regarding them. You need to read up on them. I think there may have even been a telephone number on one of the posts. Sounds ugly to me. Please, do the search and read up on others experiences with them.

OK the calls started again at 5 this morning. They left yet another inspiring voicemail. I did call back and left a message. Told them that I had contacted total lending and they gave me the number to their collection partner. I did contact ICollect and their voicemail states they are a collection broker. And any correspondence is to be done by email. Can anyone enlighten me to what a collection broker is. And could they have been the ones to give the mean people my information. I did tell the mean people to not call again. I just don't want this all to start again. The AG did call back and stated that I wasn't going to jail and they weren't legal in Oregon.

I have a pdl with them too. I have over paid them as far as what I need to pay, but not as far as they are concerned. I sent off my same old letter, the one that states that payday loans are illegal here in Florida and that they are not licensed. The whole thing. I let them know that I have filed with the AG and the BBB. We'll see what happens.

Mom, I not sure what a collection broker is however, I typed I Collect in the search box in the top right corner of the page and there were quite a few posts regarding this company. You may want to try reading those. They seem like really ugly characters and apparently they like to threaten jail. I am happy to hear your AG answered your questions regarding going to jail. Anyway, reading the other posts may help you deal with them.

mom, if you can get Total Lending to pull your account from collections, they will most likely settle for the principle amount of the loan only. I had a loan with them. I dealt only with Total Lending, agreed upon the principle amount, sent them the money, done. This collection agency they've forwarded your account to is apparently illegal also. Please, keep in mind when dealing with these people that they are not licensed/legal. That helps put a little more courage in you when dealing with them. And, more than likely, the mean people got the information from Total Lending. I don't know if these companies buy & sell accounts to collect or what. If this is the case, that's how they have all your information. All the information you gave to Total Lending (which is a lot) could be being passed from one hand to another hand to another hand. Scary feeling. But I would try to get Total Lending themselves to deal with you. They know they are lending illegally to you. If there is any way, contact Total Lending AGAIN and ask that your account be pulled from collections & you'll pay only the principle amount. And be sure to inform them of the fact that you have filed with your state agencies and have been in contact with them regarding their company. It will probably help light that fire under their butt & settle for the principle amount & call the "dogs" off. (Oh, I mean the pajama man).

He called yet again before 5 am. Twice this time and left a message both times. At this point I haven't returned his phone calls. I did send an email to total lending about taking my acct back to in house so that I can settle the principal amount with them directly. I also stated that they collection area they sent to may have given my information to another party, which is the pajama man that is harrassing me. We will see what comes of it. It's wearing me out.
