i don't know how to make him stop. i will try calling total lending again. i've reached the point of turning my phone to silent at night and even considered changing my number. has anyone heard of someone called purpose loans. i have someone at work who asked. we started talking about all this going on and she is sort of in the same boat minus the threatening calls.

mom, if you have to change your number. I had to. It was worth the "charge" of getting a new phone number. Let me know how you make out with Total Lending. Tell your friend that a Purpose loan is probably not a good idea. I want you to go to the search box up in the right hand corner and type it in. You will read posts about it. From what I've read, it's almost (not quite) like a Cash Call loan. Please read up on it and then let your friend know.

5am OMG. As cannr said, you may have to change your number. My whistle trick may work. I had a problem once with someone harassing me on the phone. I bought a cheap plastic whistle and kept it near the phone. When this person called I blew the whistle as hard and as loud as I could right into the phone. I mean I really blasted him right in his ear. After a few times I was left alone.
whatever gets you thru

Well total lending emailed me back and said they weren't able to resolve this issue. Once they sold the acct they weren't able to do any more about it. They also claimed that they were not affiliated with "I Collect". I did respond to her by telling her that the information from "I Collect" was given to me by someone from their office so I wasn't sure how they weren't affiliated. Also told her that had I done furter research before taking the loan in the first place I would have known that they were neither lisenced or legal in the state of Oregon. Which probably means that whoever they sold my acct to was neiter legal or lisenced either. I didn't have any calls this morning but I'm sure it isn't the end. I'll just continue to report them. I have been saving the nasty voicemails they continue to leave in case I can figure out someone who can do something with them to get them to stop calling for good. I would hate to change my number but will if I have to. The one good thing is as of yet they have not called my work number. Knock on Wood.

Have you talked to Mike yet? You want to give him a call, and talk to him, if he hasn't called you yet about the complaint you submitted.

Seriously, please call Mike. The Oregon Dept of Banking takes this stuff very seriously. They will call these companies on your behalf and give them an earful. Please, you don't have to do this on your own. You can make that state work for you! Both Pokogeo and I have received a ton of help from them!

mom- Sorry you're going through this. Were you able to contact Jenni at Total Lening? Her name is Jenni Prosch. Total Lending sent me to ICollect also, and I got all kinds of interesting calls. I had to close my bank accounts, open new ones, change my home phone and cell phone, but it was worth it.
I'm in Oregon as well. So is Goudah. Goudah is a great resource, as is Cannr, and countless other great people on this board. These people literally saved me from being evicted from my apartment due to illegal PDL's taking my 2/3 of my paycheck every two weeks. Their urging me to close my bank accounts immediately is what SAVED ME FROM BEING ON THE STREETS RIGHT NOW. My point is that I know what it's like to be really, really scared... so scared you see no way out. But there is a way out. The knowledge you get from this community on this board is your lighthouse in this storm.
I was able to get Jenni on the phone and she agreed to a payment plan to pay back the $210 in principal. She also pulled me off of ICollect. Cannr is right, they are a broker and will refer your loan to several different collectors who are very unscrupulous. You have to get Jenni on the phone and work something out with her and have her pull you off ICollect. Who at Total Lending told you there was nothing they could do to pull you off ICollect? That's not true. If it wasn't Jenni Prosch, you need to get her on the phone and ask her if you can work something out.
Hang in there. You are NOT going to jail. That is just a scare tactic and it is not legal to threaten someone with jail or threaten them period. These collectors on ICollect are exactly what cannr said - some buffoon sitting on his couch eating potato chips and yelling at people. I repeat: YOU ARE NOT AND CAN NOT GO TO JAIL FOR THIS. We do not have debtors prisons in this country.
Jenni Prosch at Total Lending (866)412-2369. Call her on Monday. Ask her to pull you off of ICollect and for TL to take the loan back. Ask her if you can pay back the remaining principal via money order. It will be OK. There's nothing they can do to you but make idle threats. They are illegal. But you want to get off of ICollect and Jenni is the person who can do that for you. They (ICollect) will make your life miserable because they broker you out to so many unethical people who don't care HOW they get money from you. Don't give ANYONE your banking information - checking account, debit card, credit card, etc. over the phone. Ask Jenni if you can mail in money orders. She agree to that with me. The Leawood Kansas address is correct. If she is able to get you off ICollect and you still get calls, it may take awhile before ICollect can contact all the parties involved, so just be aware you might get a few more calls after you are taken off ICollect. If you do, stay in touch with Jenni, and she will contact ICollect for you (you can't contact ICollect yourself). I had worked it all out with Jenni and she had told ICollect to pull me and TL took the loan back, but I still got a call from a law firm saying they now owned the loan. That's just due to timing differences, and just tell them that TL has taken the loan back and hang up on them if that happens. Be sure to let Jenni know if that does happen.
Goudah is right. She is in Oreogn and knows her stuff. Mike McCord at ODFI is a great resource as well. He has allayed a lot of my fears in dealing with these people, as well as Eastside Lenders, United Cash Loans, etc. Mike is a really good guy and will help you.
Close your bank accounts if you haven't already. That's the most important step in all of this, as well as not giving out your new banking account information to anyone over the phone or on the internet that is not a legal and licensed lender.
It will be OK, and agian, you are NOT going to jail.
