I am sorry to hear about your friend. But is there a way for him
I am sorry to hear about your friend. But is there a way for him to talk to the judge. Telling the judge his situation. I am sure that the judge wouldn't want his family living on the streets either. Does he rent right now? Because I don't think that a landlord can kick someone out just because of that, there has to be another reason why. Is there a way for his wife and kids to live in SC with his mom until this is taken care of? I really don't know what to tell you about this besides that really sucks. Could he possibly find a way to make arrangements with the CC company for when he does move? Because if he lives with his mom he will be saving money and could possibly give the company more money than now. I am sure someone else will be along with more advise. I wish your friend the best.
I'm not educated on garnishment-FinsFan is- but it doesn't seem
I'm not educated on garnishment-FinsFan is- but it doesn't seem right to me. You mean if you have a garnishment, you can not move until it is paid off?
Puddl is right, he needs to go to the court house and speak with the judge himself. When he goes, have him take a letter explaing the problem and why he needs to move and if it would be possible. If the judge isn't in, or busy, have him leave the letter, with his phone number. Maybe if the judge hears from him the reason, and not just what the creditor is saying, it will help. Also, he can offer to send payments, set up a plan, etc., since SC in non garnishment-just a thought. Someone with more experience will be along soon--Good Luck to your friend..KAren
