Why are my threads disappearing?

Dear Hard Bolied. This one hasn't been deleted so say what you wanted to say! The only way you will get deleted is if you leave personal info, advertise, use obscenity or directly attack someone. If you are asking an opinion or stating one it will not be deleted. So bring it on!

Controversial topics have been removed because you do not understand how to make a post without it being a direct attack on our board or it's members. If you don't like my policy then leave as I have no time to hold your hand and clean up the mess after you start throwing manure all over our board.

Collectors are welcome to post here, in a civil manner. But if they start going on like they do to some consumers on the phone, or trashing forum members, etc, they'll be deleted.

Thank you Cajun! Bad enough we have to hear it on the phone, we surely do not need to see it in print.

Censorship is un-American. You forget one major thing though - since this is a private board that receives no government money, we don't need to play by the rules. You have a choice: come here, post something proper and without inflammatory remarks, or expect the wrath of the mods. Debate is encouraged; personal attacks are rebuked.

OMG!!! Why would someone want to post negative things about ANYONE on this post?? We are ALL here, for the 'same reason'...to get/give advice,etc. I don't understand it. And, BTW..Collector, I really don't like the words " Un-American"...you see, I'm in the military..serving my country for ALL AMERICANS..large/tall, fat/thin, in debt/not in debt. people are on this forum, to work TOGETHER, to solve life problems.

Things have calmed down alot here now, and we don't need anyone coming on here slamming others! I,too, will delete and/or edit if someone is not following the TOS rules..KAren

my whole point is is that while collectors may be very nice people in general, in my opinion they don't know how to seperate themselves from their jobs when it comes to debt collection. It would be nice if they could just come across as decent people who are just trying to make their living too, instead of being down on those of us here trying to keep the peace and offer whatever we can to those of us who are STRESSED out because of whatever situation they are in when they find us here.

I do want to 'get something straight'. Most people, on this forum WANT to pay their debts...and ( for whatever reason) are NOT able to. There is a difference.

of course we do, but we all go through hard times and need help even if it is in the form of chatting here and getting advice. I think some of the toughest collectors work on commission which is why the press so hard, but there is no commission to be found on this space so why be mean!

Pauli I look at it this way. I am not a debtor,I am his customer whether he like's it or not. His salary and commission is paid by consumers so they deserve the respect a normal person would expect. I have had dealings with both good and bad collectors.The bad got a headache and the good got paid. I also know some personally and it is a matter of personal preference.The fdcpa is an easy law for a collector to remain in compliance with. I always said growing up you attract more bees with honey than vinegar.How they expect to get paid after abusing a person is beyond me because at my house they would have been abused as roughly as they abused me& hung up on.

Cajun...I understand and believe me when they were calling me I would always work(make my payments or postdated checks) with the ones who were willing to actually listen to me and treat me as a human being first, rather than ones who call and basically call you a liar and loser and push the fdcpa to the line, they were last on my list, but eventually they got paid too, they just had to wait longer than the nice ones!

Cajun is right- we, as consumers need to become more debt educated about our rights as consumers.

Before coming here, I let them talk to me as bad as they wanted, made payments to them without knowing if they had the debt, etc., and not taking care of our needs because of that.

I,too, have some friends that are collectors, they are always in trouble at work vecause they work out payments!

Becoming more knowledgeable has allowed me to sleep at night and pay bills!

I have paid and settled my debts off, with the exception of the one from WW&r and working on that one, since coming here

Today, I don't allow them to talk to me that way- if they want money, they need to be business like and civil!..KAren

I'm giving up on this subject cause I don't think you guys understand that I am just trying to say there is no reason for a collector to come here and bash the great people on this site. Thanks for understanding.

Suebee, Perhaps I'm overly sensitive today, full moon fever or something, could be the 103 heat wave yesterday that is continuing today...and friday is just not close enough yet...I just felt like I wasn't being understood. Believe me I know what it is like to be a collector, I did medical collections for a hospital in a town of 2000 being an outsider (new to town) I got the job no one else wanted and no matter how nice I was I immediately had few friends in town, needless to say I moved back to cali before too long and that was the last collection job I took! Sorry for the babble, I'm gonna try not to be so sensitive about this issue and other here today. Thanks Pauli

it would be just nice to sleep without sweating maybe tonight! my luck it has nothing to do with the heat wave and is probably premenopause..boy am I just full of positive thoughts today or what. Ok...attitude adjustment right now. no more negativeness from me today I promise, if not you all can slap me from a distance :P

Pauli- I wasn't attacking or disagreeing with anyone. I said I have friends who are collectors, and have had some nice ones myself that worked with me. I am just saying that no one deserves to be told they are worthless, scum of the earth dead beats- which was the nicest thingsone said to me. Everyone has to have jobs and I am not downing anyone their profession- some people tell me I must be a low life for the work I do :shock:

Hey, debt collector....awwww, does it feel like we're hanging up on you? Like you just aren't appreciated? Like we're talking down to you and belittling you and making you feel like scum and inferior? Like you try and make debtors feel everytime you call them to collect on a debt? Sucks, don't it.

Guest...don't know who you are directing that at, but it's not me..I'm not a collector and have been here for a while so the good folks out there know that I try to help others when I can, sometimes ya just have a bad day, hope yours it better!

Ang- I've always heard that they more guys drink the more attractive ANY female is...doesn't work that way for girls though, at least not me..I mean attraction just has 2b there for a girl no matter how much beer I drink!

I'm jumping in here too late, thank goodness. But I just wanted to thank Cajun for being a good "bouncer" and calmly sending "collector" on their way. I personally am tired of being attacked by "guests" and then having an entire thread of nasty put downs. Thank you. :D

Everyone - I'm so sorry. That "guest" comment up there was me. It was directed at the original poster...the debt collector....I just get tired of them whining about how they are misunderstood and they have such a horrible job becuase people yell at them and hang up and how people should just pay their bills. I'm sorry if that was confusing. My timing sucks sometimes. you guys know me....I don't have beef with anyone on this forum. You guys saved my marriage, and possibly my life with all of your advice. And just knowing I'm not alone really gave me piece of mind. It made my shingles go away! Pleasent thought, I know. Seriously, my stress was so bad, I go shingles and started drinking way too much to make the worries go away. When I saw all of you guys on here, read the posts, it really saved me. Now, I LOVE being able to help other people like I was helped. PS - I'm a Heiniken girl, myself. St Paulies isn't bad.

Thanks for the clarification. This site has helped me alot too, and like the rest of you I don't like the bashing that goes on here sometimes, this is a friendly place with the members trying to help each other, not give advice on how not to pay what you owe...I wish they would see that instead of bashing members.

I am glad we were able to help all of you and with Mike,me,and the other mods this board will remain as clean as it can be. There are too many people that need help who don't deserve to be walked on with these types of posts.

I'm glad you guys have received some help and hope here!! I know it saved my sanity! Cajun is right, we all try to keep a close eye on those slamming the forum and will continue to do so.

You feel bad enough when you come here, you certainly don't neeed someone being rude or obnoxious!!
