Hello!

I received a collection notice back in July 2007 and I immediately contacted the creditor and made a minimum payment without even verifying the validity of the alleged delinquent account. To date, I have made 2 payments.

As of last week, I found out about this site and a debtors rights. Consequently, I sent the collection agency a "debt validation request". My request is beyond the 30-day period that I have read in some of the threads here.

Do I still have the right to request validation, given the fact that I requested it beyond the 30-days period?

Thanks in advance!

Kevin- you can request one, but don't hold your breath on them giving you one!! Since you have made payments, they will probably say that you agreed to this debt.

I requested one after the 30 days on one, hadn't made a payment yet, and never got one, but who knows, they may still send you one.
Someone will be along and may have some more info on this for you, because I am not sure about whether making a payment has anything to do with requesting a DV letter or not!..Good Luck..KAren
