What wording should I ask for when settling an account with a collection agency?
"paid"
"paid in full"
"paid as agreed"

You should always as for Paid in Full! That doesn't mean they will give it to you though. Usually they will offer paid for less than agreed, or settled for lees than owed. But ask for the Paid in full, you never know!

By the way- you want to get this in writing, or they will come back and say they never agreed to this- I learned this the hard way!! Good Luck..KAren :D

I'm sure ya'll remember I had posted something about Cash Call. I'm NOW dealing with a CA, who is GREAT at working with me, on this. Cash Call NO LONGER 'owns' my loan.Well....my question is ( and it may be a crazy one, but, I JUST don't know). I DO have an option to 'settle' this account ( not sure if I can do that right now), or make AFFORDABLE ( isn't that great!!?? After all of the hell I've been through!) monthly payments. Now..here is the question. Does it look BETTER on a CR if you PIF OR 'SETTLED with amount'?? Hope ya'll understand the question.

I believe the rep, at the CA, said when I pay this loan off, with the monthly payments I agreed to, my CR will say, 'PIF'. Not 'settled'. I am paying back ALL the money I ACTUAALY barrowed, from Cash Call.
