Bass signed for it!

Is this the bass and associates that I've heard so much about?

One and the same! I'm actually glad they signed for it because if it is a valid debt, I want to pay it. Now I'll just wait and see if they actually send me validation. (I doubt it)

I know. I've heard so many bad things about this company. Just be careful with them. They have some seriously nasty tactics from what I understand.

They called me once and were very nasty, based on everything I read on this forum I sent them a debt validation / partial cease and desist letter and they have not contacted me again. Guess we'll see what happens now.

Goodluck, sounds like you have good intentions, just make sure everything is on the up and up and that you recieve a paid in full when all is said and down. Keep us updated on whether they send proper validation or not?

I too have heard a lot about them and their scary tactics. Majority of the debt collectors do not validate the debt. If you send them a DV letter they do not respond. In this case if they respond to your DV letter, then make it sure they provide you with the following information.

* Name and address of the original creditor
* Calculation of the amount they claim you owe
* Proof that they are authorized to collect the debt for the original creditor
* A complete payment history
* Proof that they are licensed to collect in your state.

And are we positive that this is THE Bass and Associates that we all know and "love"? Remember, there is a legitimate Bass and Associates also doing business in Arizona.

They signed for mine earlier this year and I have not heard anything from them since, not even a phone call. Good luck!!

Some companies will cease communication in writting and verbal with a partical C&D. They also have until forever to send you what information you are requesting.

Thanks for all the info. Yes, this is Bass "Prelitigation" in Jacksonville. I thought they only had 30 days to send validation after you request it. Is that not right?

They have until forever. Not 30 days.

You're right FYI. They can select not to answer at all (as long as collection activities have ceased). Except in states such as Texas, where they must send some sort of answer withing 30 days, and notify CRAs.
