Date: Wed, 09/05/2007 - 22:45
I have been repeatedly called by Leading Edge Recovery Solutions at home after 9pm and at work. My boss and I have told them not call call me at work. I did receive a letter from them and am sending the following response. Please let me know if I'm setting the wrong tone. I don't know about the debt but would pay if it is real but want to set a definitive tone with them as to how they should treat and contact me. The letter is as follows:

I have been harrassed by this company and verbally threatened, thanks for the letter - they need to stop what they are doing.
my father received a phone call from this place and called them
my father received a phone call from this place and called them back... They provided "legitimate" information after my father gave his ssn... I've been trying to find out if they are legit... My father has been harrassed by a couple diff collection agencies so I guess didn't think anything of it... I'm really concerned that this was fraud... I work in the Fraud Department for a bank and I see what this can do to people...
PLEASE reply with info if you found out if this place is legit... I am thinking they are legit... they provided his with info about payments he made... and he does owe money about the amount they provided...
The first person he got was very rude to him... and then when he consistently asked for proof of who they were... the rep hung up...
The second person was a little more workable...
Leading Edge is currently being sued or was charged or SOMETHING because of unfair collections...
This is a daughter concerned for her father's identity... PLZ reply with any info you have!
Leading Edge is a legitimate CA and I'm sure they are being sued
Leading Edge is a legitimate CA and I'm sure they are being sued for violations of the FDCPA. Has he recieved anything in writing or just phone calls? If not, next time they call, he needs to verify his address and inform them they had 5 days from their initial contact to mail hima dunning letter. End the call. When they send the dunning letter, he will need to respond with a request for Debt Validation.

Hey thanks!!! I know the person on the phone told him that he should be receiving a letter soon... I'll have to make sure of it though... Thank you for your help!!!
TO DILLER
Hello Diller, when the phone rep at leading edge asked for your father's ss#, he was trying to determine he had the right party on the phone before disclosing any sensitive information. Disclosing information about a debt to a third party is illegal & it is the collector's responsibility to make the correct determination to protect himself, his company & the rights of the consumer(your dad). This collector was doing his job. As far as you questioning their legitimacy due to a lawsuit, I don't know of any collection agencies that don't have pending suits for so called "unfair collection practices". This is due to the laws of the FDCPA being extremely vague in many areas & left to interpretation. Many of these lawsuits are filed by dishonest consumers who are simply trying to get out of paying their bills. They have already defaulted with the bank who issued the credit card & are trying to further their attempts to not live up to their contractual obligations. Much of the time attorneys encourage consumers to try entrapping collectors or just making up stories to file lawsuits in order to make a quick buck. It is very hard for collection agencies to to protect themselves from this because they are becoming more stringent with regulations constantly & witch hunts by politicians like Lisa Madigan do not help either. She is championing debtors because debtors are voters & she has a very ambitious agenda. She & these unscrupulous, parasitic attorneys get the debtors to fashion themselves into the role of the victim, failing to realize that nobody held a gun to their head & forced them to use these credit cards they cannot pay. Living beyond your means doesn't make you a victim, it just makes you a bad consumer & another burden on an already struggling economy. Diller, I hope my point of view & the facts I have displayed have been helpful to you.
I recently dealt with these people and am quite upset with them.
I recently dealt with these people and am quite upset with them. I am in a situation where they are calling for me to pay for a credit card I never even had and had personal information about me. Google these people and you'll see what is really going on with them. There are almost 100 lawsuits against them that you can find;including one from the state of Illinois. I would definitely report them if I were you.
Leading Edge Debt consolidation
They have been leaving harrassing messages with everyone including my neighbors. We have tried to make payment arrangements with them but they just yell and hang up and refuse anything less than the total owed. Does anyone have their payment address?
Do not pay them any money. You owe them nothing. Send them a cea
Do not pay them any money. You owe them nothing. Send them a cease and desist letter according to your FDCRA rights. Never give your father's or anyones social security number out. If they read one to you, do NOT verify. They are very expert at getting info from you. These are not nice people. Study this that is happening to you and do not give them anything. Give them NOTHING _ money, information, nothing. There are too many crooks out there and these people are one.
That letter at the top of this page and the post by Nascar devil present the correct agenda to follow.

Leading edge uses several different phone numbers and each one denies calling to avoid legal action. All you need is their name and date of call. Also they are (MATT) not aware of the do not call regeristry for cell phones. Their ignorace makes them easy prey for law suits. Everyone get these idiots.

After what I went through and working where I do I've always recorded my phone calls with these people who do not give out such information. I've already filed a complaint with the FTC, and contacted a lawyer this morning. Your letter is fine just don't send them a letter that you can't back up. Have that lawyer, and always like my lawyer said record and documents everything!
Scam
I wonder if any of your realize this is a scam. If this was a real dept you owe? You would receive a letter in the mail with a settlement amount. I have read various accounts online of people saying this is not their dept. Do not give these people your personal info and anyone saying contact them, is full of shit.
This is a scam!!!!!!!!
