OK, only have a couple of minutes, but wanted to share my son's swearing into the AF with everyone. It got delayed from the original date due to him changing his last name to my husbands, so we had to wait until we got all the documents, but he did it today and here are a couple of pictures of him. All I was able to get due to the having more people to swear in. Very proud, sad, scared, happy, just a whole bunch of emotions. Not sure when he is going to leave for basic, but they are going to try to get him out within a month or two. My baby is grown up!

Thanks you guys for all your wonderful comments!!! Talk about tearing up, I am right now after reading all these wonderful things. I know he is going to do just fine in the Air Force. His goal is to stay in 30 years (he enlisted for 6) and to become an officer. In fact, he was just talking to me tonight on the way home from my office (getting ready to head to a HS football game to watch my daughter in the band), that for his sister's 16th birthday or more than likely for that Christmas, he wants to get his sister her first car! Something maybe a couple thousand dollars! This boy has got such a big heart! I am so very very proud of him. My heart is bursting with love and pride for him right now (as it does for his sister too, but right now it is his time!)

Wow, he is standing as straight as a board, like he has been doing this for years. Congradulations, When I first went in, I sent money home for school clothes, it felt good to help the family out, buying your daughters first car will be an honor for him. He will be so proud to help you out like that. It shows that your family is full of love and commitment to each other, you guys will never be separated by distance because your relationship is so much stronger than that. You should be proud of your whole family, through your struggle, you have done such a wonderful job. Smile Momma, Cry Momma, Be Proud Momma, it is ok, you have earned it! Great Job!

Just wanted to update everyone on the situation....My son received a call this morning from his Air Force Recruiter and he now has a ship out date for Basic. He will be leaving January 29, 2008! Kyle was very excited. I know now that these next 3 months are going to go by so fast!!! I can already feel the tears building up for when he leaves. In a way he is glad it is after the holidays, but in another, he kind of wishes it was right now so he could go ahead and get it out of the way.

Fedup ~ I guess that marching band paid off, huh?? LOL They had to stand at attention before they start playing and when they pause and stuff like that.

Took him to lunch to day (taking a couple days off of work due to how I have been feeling), but anyway, he was talking how he was going to get his sister her can and now help her with her insurance until she can get a job and help her with her band money, once he get in and out of basic. Told him he didn't have to do that, but said he wanted to because he has seen me and his dad struggling to keep things going. About made me cry at the lunch table!!!

Anyway, think I am going to go take a nap here soon...but did want to update our news!

Well once again you have done a wonderful job with your son who is thoughful and helpful and loves his family. Congratulations. I know it will be hard on you when he leaves, my sister was in the air force, they make them strong, very strong and he will do well. My uncle is a retired officer from the air force..he was pretty high up in the rankings...good choice for him he will be set for life.

volleyballmom ~ I am an Army brat! Dad in for 22 years, (got shot in Vietnam), was also a Navy wife (the ex) and now.... Well, I think my avatar says it all! LOL

I will make sure that I tell him thanks from everyone. I am a member of another board locally and there are a couple of people, (retirees) there that are wanting to write him when he goes, which made me cry. Dang, I cry over everything anymore.

Now you know as things go, I will be posting about him and I am sure I will include pictures when I can.

2nBand, It is sad when they go but it is so awsome when you see them at graduation. He sounds like an amazing young man and you have every right to be proud. We just came back from Keesler..my son is in Air Traffic Contol school there. It was so awsome to see him and hear about his school. I am really excited for both of you and again wish him all the best. I look forward to your posts.

Wow, that's beautiful! So nice to hear of a young person who is successful and will do his family and country proud. We need more like him. I used to teach at a university with my husband and for the most part our kids were great, but there were some that just irritated me with their laziness and lack of vision. I wish I could use your son as an example to all of them. I know we'll hear of good things from you about him in the future! Congratulations :)

2nd band you are taking me back in time. I remember graduating from basic training, wow, how emotional. Tears of joy and pride.
Heads up, you better invest in some Kleenex, you are going to be crying your eyes out, GOOD tears for a change. I think you are an amazing mother, he is a result of your patience, love and care as a mother. I know your daughter will have a great future too. Your children have witnessed your struggle and have paid close attention. Hard work and dedication to them has paid off. Your daughter will miss her brother dearly, so the two of you will become even closer than you are now. Pat yourself on the back and enjoy the success of your son, it is a direct reflection on you. GREAT JOB MOM! Better start saving those debtcc points for a welcome home party after basic, LOL.
