I am frantic! I

Employers here in Pa have started doing the same thing, this is really scary. The human resource people that I spoke to explained that if you are going to handle thier machines and equipment it shows that you are responsible if you have a good credit rating. I think it is a bunch of crap, it is eliminating alot of well qualified people from the job market.
The banks and other industries that handle money have done it for a long time, but what the heck does a persons credit have to do with it if they are applying for a laboring position.

They also check with car insurance ...if you have good credit you MUST be a safe driver...IMHO this is just as stupid.

Welcome to the Community :D I am with you- I don't know of very many people that haven't experienced some type of financial hardship in thei lives.

One time when I applied, they said they were going to run a credit check, and I asked them to let me explain some of what may be on there, and that I was making an effort to clean up my credit and my mistakes. I took another job, but they did call and offer me one.
