Superior Debt Relief Vs Sifxpert
Date: Mon, 09/10/2007 - 07:30
I have decided to enter a debt settlement program and have narrowed it down to either Superior debt relief or Sifxpert and am having a hard time deciding. I have 26K in credit card debt but only can afford 350-400 a month for a program. The good thing about Superior debt relief is they have an account set up for me so I can spend that monthly payment whereas Sifxpet I am resposible for saving the $ in my own account every month. I also like the fact that with Superior I can change my phone number and address to theres for call and bills. But what if Sifxpert can get better settlements or is better with the creditors and far as them not sueing me. I am really nervouse about not paying the credit cards but just cant afford it anymore. This will be my first month not paying anything and I am afraid that someone will sue me within the next couple of month or garnish my wages and then what would I do? Does anyone have any advice on which one would be better to use. Thanks so much for the advice I really do appriciate it.

There are many here who are using Superior debt relief for their debt settlement program and are not facing any problems with them. I have no idea about Sifxpert, however there are some posts about them on this board. I think you should ask both the companies if they have their past experiences on dealing with your credit companies. If they had success results, then you may consider hiring them for their services. Check the companies with your state AG's office also for the consumers feedbacks.

I have just a little advice. You should definitely look up both companies on the BBB online. I too am in debt settlement and I was very nervous about not paying the cards. But we've been in for three months now and still not a collection notice. They have to be past due three months and then they have to send you collection notice before settlement can occur. You also want to go with a company that calls you back and checks on you from time to time and also makes you feel comfortable. What is the one's fee compared to the other and find out if you have to sign a limited power of attorney as well. The one that we went with is Clear Debt Results. They came recommended from Ameridebt. They do require that you have a limited power of attorney signed giving them authorization to negotiate on your behalf with your creditors to get a better settlement and to also get the correspondence coming to them and the collection calls. They do though require you to save the money yourself, but I only have to put aside $200 a month. Whereas our payments were about $450 before.

That makes me feel a little better knowing people have had success with Superior.
Both have different fees Superior is 15% of total debt I think and Sifxpert is a $500 retainer fee and then 20% of amount saved through settlement and I have to sign limited power of attorney with both of them.
I also have another question someone may be able to answer. I have a Bank of America credit cards and my checking account is also with them. The card is going into the program so can they take money from my checking account?

I would definitely get another checking account at a bank that is not associated with any of your cards in the program. Usually that is a suggestion for most of the debt settlement companies I have checked out. I believe that they can take money from your checking account if it is with the same bank.

This information was helpful for me too! Thanks. We are looking at doing this but have jitters. It's going to be a long struggle on a road we are just starting down. Thanks for the information!
Deciding to go with debt settlement can be a very tough decision
Deciding to go with debt settlement can be a very tough decision to make. There's an initial hit on your credit history that will take it down, but once you pay off and you're completely debt free those scores will rise back up in no time. It can be very frustrating at times waiting for those collection calls to stop. When we first decided to do this my husband was really freaked out. He was so worried that we were going to be taken advantage of and other things would happen like his wages would get garnished. But none of that has happened and I finally got him to realize that we were just going to get worse if we didn't do something now.
A lot of people pay off their debt with their income tax money and then they are debt free even sooner. By this time next year we should finally be where we need to be and completely debt free.

I talked to superior this afternoon and the woman I spoke with was very nice. She did warn me about one of my cards which has me very nervous. She said my zales card could come and take my ring. If I leave that out I dont think I will be able to swing the monthly payment on top of Kays payment. Then I got to thinking and before my husband got his paycut and everything went in the toilet with health insurance we bought my son an ATV on my polaris star card. If this woman said something about Zales do you think Polaris would come and take my sons ATV.

That I am not knowledgable of. We put our Dell on ours, but Dell hasn't come to take our computers or anything. It usually takes a while to go through though for the repos. Maybe if you're worried about them coming to take them you could settle on those first. That way you won't have to worry about someone showing up unexpectedly.

There is a recent post on sifxperts forum that mentions something that has made alot of sense to me. A company that charges a flat rate such as Superior of 15% has absolutely no incentive to fight for the lowest settlements. Sifxpert charges his fees based on their performance. They also offer a guarantee that any account settled higher than 55%, there is no fee. A company like Superior collects their fees regardless and for the first 3 months, your entire payment goes toward fees then for the next 12 months a portion which is the majority of your payment goes directly toward their fee also which takes away from necessary funds for settlement. With Sifxpert, your retainer is refundable and immediately begin accumulating funds for settlement enabling you to settle more accounts before they are turned over to collections and the way it was explained to me was that the most aggressive collectors are settled first. I too have a BofA account and Sifxpert offered a guarantee that this account would settle for 20% and not a penny higher.
I have looked into many programs and hands down, Sifxpert is cost effective and the safest program out there. If you look at the site, there are settlement results posted with balances and settlements and names of banks. You can get a good idea as to what you will be paying in the end but you will be get an estimate of what you will pay total with both companies.
Lastly, you must keep in mind that you can not base your decision on what company offers the lowest monthly payment. You must determine what company has the best strategy to handle your accounts. I was offered 48 month programs by some companies. Think about it, what creditor will wait 4 years for a settlement and by the time 4 years of interest accrues on your accounts, they have tripled and you are paying 120% of the amount you borrowed saving nothing.
I dont mean to put any company down but my choice of company must be one that has a program that logically makes sense and sets a comfort level.

The company that I'm with gave me a time of 24 months. They based the monthly payment on what I told them I could afford. If I have more to put towards savings then I will. I like how they give me the opportunity to choose which ones get paid first. Because the ones that bug ME the most will be paid first in my opinion. I'm not sure what their % is, but I know that I'm not paying nearly as much as some other companies. You can't just take what's on their own personal company site as fact or the gospel either you have to do some outside homework and look at the BBB online to see their rating and their customer complaints, resolves and satisfaction.

I like the things I hear about Sifxpert but their website is hokey and some of the pages won't even load. Makes me a little leary. I haven't found them yet in the BBB listings, maybe I am not spelling it right. I can't find an address for them on their website either.

That sounds kind of fishy, but if possible keep looking. Maybe something will turn up. I looked at a lot of companies before I decided on one. I just wanted to make sure. I've never heard of Sifxpert before. To be honest when I saw the name I thought it was a typo. If there isn't an address on their own site I would maybe use the contact us link if they have one to maybe try and find their address. Also they might call themselves Sifxpert, but have a different dba. If that works the same with settlement companies, which I think it does. A lot of times you will find the companies on BBB by their dba names.

his sites all lead to a forum you have to find the link in the navigation panel. if you google sifxpert you will find his forum. his sites are not the most advanced by any means but it seems the forum is where most of his activity is. i am going with sifxperts company definitely. one huge difference with his company is that his forum members are also clients and every single post is positive. there is not one negative post. i saw the settlement results on his site and then found the forum and his clients also post their results and reflect the settlement results on the sifxpert site. he is listed with the bbb, if you contact him, he will provide the link for you. he has been in business since 1996 with another company as their director of operations and there are only 3 complaints in 11 years.
i suggest at least contacting him. he explains everything very thorough and like someone above posted that you choose what accounts are settled...you want the accounts settled first who look to sue. not the ones who annoy most. he makes alot of sense. different from the others but it seems to be a very smart team.

Guest, you are incorrect about Superior Debt Services fees. I am currently with them and they do not take their fees in the first 3 months as you stated. Actually, the first payment went to my account and then after that they split their fees with me for the next 21 months. This is why they have settled with 3 of my accounts already in the first 7 months. I was told by the woman that helped me that she was with the company for 4 years and they have been in business for 11 years. For me, that meant a lot. Figuring in any industry it is important to have longivity shows seriousness and ability to remain in business providing a service that is certainly needed now.
Also have to tell you the 3 settlements came in at 28% and they had no additonal money they were asking for as an incentive. I'm so glad that I have gone with them. It was my right choice.

i know alot of people say that stick with a company that lets you do the saving, but personally the type of person that i am i would have always needed a reason to have access to it and spend it. I liked paying the money into a account that i could not touch that only could be used for my settlements. and it was great in the end to get that big check with what was left in my account!
so im glad the company i used put the money away for me. they withdrew it from my checking and put it into a seperate account.
