Golden...so sorry this happened...did you keep a copy of the letter? Would the USPS be willing to send it again at nc since they lost it??

Yes, it was certified with tracking number...for the longest time when I looked it up it just only had confirmed that I sent it...then a few days ago it changed to 'no information available'. So I called and thus starting the game 'Where in the world is my dang letter!'
I am going to ask them if I can mail it again as I did keep a copy of it.
I would definitely have them mail it again at no charge to you..
I would definitely have them mail it again at no charge to you....I mailed mine the exact same way a week ago and no updates have been made to my tracking #'s either.
Just when you feel like you are doing it the "right way" to protect yourself...grrrr.

I have received mail that was obviously ripped open. It is usually a advertisement that had a check in it. You know the ones that say you can cash this check if you switch to our services? The letter has been put in a plastic bag with a note attached from USPS saying sorry this was damaged in the mail. Damaged in the mail!?! Makes you wonder if someone sent you a check for real if you would actually get it.

Sheesh..no kidding!
Has anyone tried that electronic return receipt? It only costs 85 cents and you get an electronic conformation in your email of signature and delivery date. Seems to me this would be even easier then waiting for a little green card that can easily get lost, not to mention..it's cheaper. 8)

Thats what I did ( didnt you too..?) It cost $2.65 for the certified mail and then $.85 extra to get your online tracking #. I keep checking mine and they arent updated but only says that the mail was received by the post office. I guess they will update it when the letter is actually delivered and signed for?? Who knows...I will keep checking mine and if no progress by the end of week, I will call the post office.

Hmm..yes, I did...it seemed ideal to me..get the receipt in the email and print off a copy, keep another safe on your hard drive and in your email box..but like you just described is what happened to me.
It never updated and it seems USPS is scratching their head on what happened to it. Now I am wondering if the letter made it, but the end post office didn't bother to scan it or whatever it is they do...hmm.
Please lets keep up this thread VBmom, let me know what the post officer syas to you when you call. I will continue to update as I learn any new info.

Hello all, let me tell you a little story about the little green receipts...I mailed a letter certified, return receipt, requested...A month or so passed and no little green card in the mail...so I called the post office where I mailed it. They had no record of ever processing it ( as if I would go in, pay for it and not send it) however, they said they would never have taken the letter and not processed it so their conclusion was that I was wrong and did not send a letter as I claimed. Well, about a week later I went on line and for some reason looked it up...IT HAD BEEN SIGNED FOR TWO DAYS EARLIER.... it never showed where it was logged at the sending post office but it sure showed where it had been signed for and the green card routed through the post office back to me..I received the card three days after it was signed for. I realize even with e-mail, the post office deals with tons of mail but that was just crazy..Needless to say, I do not put alot of faith in the people who process the little green receipts.
If I dont see results that I can quantify from the USPS, I will
If I dont see results that I can quantify from the USPS, I will just resend everything via DHL or UPS ground with tracking #. I have an account at work that I can use...
Thanks for sharing your experiences too Roxy

I hate DHL! They have lost about 4 packages (one contained paychecks) for our office and this was within the first couple of months we had them! To date they cannot find them. Our company is not longer using DHL and have gone back to FedEx.

2nd-That is funny you say that...we now use DHL as our preferred company shipper and we have had the most problems let me tell you. Our company rate is cheap but you get what you pay for.

Sheesh man....what a pain in the butt. I went to UPS to see about sending a certified letter return receipt (you know, the one that costs about 5 bucks at the post office) and it was gonna cost me 12 bucks! Heh. I said no thanks.
I think the whole point of the CMRRR is to have proof it was delivered, so wouldn't it stand to reason that any method of mail that tracks and shows date of delivery should work? Yes?
Yeah, you'd think they'd keep better track of the ones they get
Yeah, you'd think they'd keep better track of the ones they get paid to do. Wait, aren't they supposed to keep track of them all!?!
Guess not.

Okay. I'm jumping in here just because I had a "thought". What if the letter was never received? Okay? A lot of my pdl letters were returned to me with "moved/no forwarding address/no longer here". If you sent this with a tracking number, the post office takes it (scans it as sent), then it gets delivered only to find that the pdl is "gone" or whatever (fake address, etc.), then it would take longer to get it back to the post office, stamped as "moved/etc", then re-routed back, on and on...... Maybe that's what has happened? Maybe it was indeed on its way; however, the address is no longer valid? And now it's taking 100 years to get back to you? Just a thought. You know how these places like to give "empty addresses" or move every month or so.

Volleyball ~ yeah, their rates are cheaper, but they suck! WE finially got a call about the package that had the paychecks in it, well the package finially came in to them, but was "ripped" and all 35 checks/stubs (some of us have direct deposit) were gone. Now these things have our addresses and ID numbers on them. Who knows where they are now.
