NY AG Continuing Saga

So I calmly asked to speak to the investigator from the Internet division that either made that decision or could at least give me some information since the reason they had my complaints was on the direction from Consumer Fraud!
Two hours later the clerk calls back and said the reason everything was sent to Consumer Fraud was that there had been a lot of activity regarding payday loans and that now the Consumer Fraud division was looking in to it! You think????????
I called the Consumer Fraud division and they verified they have my complaints and will get back to me. I tried to tell them there was a mistake and that they had filed a complaint against debtconsolidationcare and obviously hadn't read my complaint but they would listen. Stay tuned....

I filed fourteen separate complaint forms, included tons of attachments for each one and had a cover letter. In my cover letter I was praising the benefits of this site as somewhere I was able to get real help for my situation. When they sent back their form letters they returned 15 case files. The 15th was against this site. It just proved to me that noone looked at the data I sent. I spent days organizing and putting together what I thought was a complete and easy to follow package. Every complaint was separated with a colored paper divider and the cover letter also included copies of cited cases from that testimony I found earlier. Again that was separated by a color paper divider. I'm about ready to throw in the towel and start writing some complaint letters to the governor and the director of the Consumer Fraud division.

I am so sorry, mperez. You are getting a raw deal. The only good thing in all this is that you are a fighter. And I know you'll continue on until this gets straightened out. We've gotten more information from you than anyone else. I know you're frustrated, but in the process of going insane, you are helping others. mperez, maybe we should all write to your gov regarding how your state agencies handle complaints. Amazing.

Do not throw in the towel. :) Someone along the paper trail will pick up and take care of this matter. You should do as cannr states and write to your state agency heads and the governor personally.
I wish you lots of luck, you have come along baby already so don't give up.

I know you guys are right. And 10 PIF's are nothing to sneeze at - I just don't tolerate bureacracy very well....I'll keep plugging and after a good night's sleep I'll see what the old keyboard comes up with for letters to the next level of State "Management"!!

You know Mperez...I sent that kind of file to my AG..and 2 weeks later got it back with a note saying I had to fill a form out for each complaint...DUH...I had, plus paper clipped documents to each one, etc. I called the chick who wrote the note and asked her exactly what she wanted...after I told her what I had sent she asked me to send it back to her attention...it was a month before I finally got notification that they were write letters to address my complaints...so everything needs to be done twice and in triplicate...LOL

Thanks Morningstar at least I won't take it personal! It just drives me crazy to see our hard earned tax dollars going up in smoke like that. When I called Consumer Fraud back yesterday the agent was so rude I almost came through the phone but then decided to kill him with kindness and good wishes. Maybe he will think twice before being such a grouch on the phone next time.

I have found that it is better to treat that nasty person with kindness then to treat them like crap back :) . Even though the whole time you are gritting you teeth and clenching your fist. In the end a little niceness gets you further than nastiness.

MPerez,
sorry, to hear you going all thru this. It is sicking the money that is wasted for "the consumers benefit" sheesh... nutz.
Congrat's to you on 10 pifs.
Did you make payment arrangements with all of them, or after you had already paid so much did they send you PIF's letters?
Thanks!

I had been a "good" customer for years with the majority of the PDL's. Early on in this journey I was fearful enough that I thought I would have to make settlements. I paid one company $100 for a PIF. I still owed principle on a few others so I made payment arrangements and sent moneygrams every other week until I reached my limit (paying back the principle only) The more I learned from this site the stronger I got with the remaining PDL's. I worked up a spreadsheet on the computer that has all the information at hand, loans, payments, balances and contact stuff. I took the advice of some very wise people here and one loan at a time. I would fax, email and eventually call them. I was persistent and didn't let them intimidate me- some were fairly easy to work with and some were not - I also had some luck with filing with the BBB. That got one collection agency to settle my account and disappear in to the wood work. Try the one loan at a time - it really works and most days you can keep your sanity too - and don't forget to come here when you need to vent!

Mperez, were any of the PIFs you got from MTE? I still have not heard a word back from them, and I filed with the AG in early August. I was also a "good customer" for a few years too, so I would love if they just marked me PIF so I don't have to think about it anymore.

Shhh..don't tell Cannr I had six with MTE. Two still had principle owed (One Click and ameriloan) so principle payments were made or will be to get the PIF. United Cash Loans, Paycheck Today, 500 Fast Cash and MTE Financial were all overpaid and we were able to work the PIF's without having to send more in. My head is spinning...........

WHAT???? I just caught wind of your secret, mperez! Wait a minute! Mine were overpaid! What??? God, I love you, mperez. But I am now on the MTE warpath yet again. I do not understand this! You know what though???? I would rather YOU got the pif's than ME. You so deserve them.

And, kash, I'm glad you got a pif from One Click Cash also. Honestly, I am. I love to see people get pif's. Especially from the "hard" ones. Since you guys are both such good chums with MTE, would you put in a good word for me and tell them to mark me pif, as I have overpaid also? LOL!
