No they can not and they will not. The reason they do that is to black mail you into paying. GFSIL and its related companies are notorious for doing this crap so without you actually posting the company name I am guessing it is one of theirs. I would not pay this company another dime especially if it is GFSIL. Report the company that did this to you to the BBB, the Maryland AG, the California AG, both states office of finance, the FTC, the FCC and any other agency you can think of. It would also be helpful if you posted the amount you borrowed and the total amount you paid back so far. This will allow someone on the boards to determine if you paid what you owe according to your state law.

No, they are just trying to scare you. They tried to tell me the same thing. But just because someone verified employment does not make them responsible for the debt! Follow Dollarsandsince's advice . . . . . PDL's are prohibited in MD, so filing those complaints could really help.

Dang you guys are quick. If you could make a list and post it of each company, the amount you borrowed, the date you borrowed, the number of times the loan has gone through roll over and the total amount you paid to each. We need to compare this to your state laws regulating what they can legally collect.

i guess my problem is that i do owe these people money, i just can't pay it all at once. i have loand through oneclick cash, payday loans, mte financial, vip cash club, and a few more that i can not think of right now. so once i find all of the info, all i need to do is contact everyone? or should i just let it be since pdls are prohibited in maryland? how do i get them to leave my boss alone?

I posted this for you on another thread. did you post more than once?
First you need to send cease and desist letters to these people, asking them to contact you only via mail. Explain to your boss that these are illegal companies trying to take your money. They can not and will no be able to take him or you to court, These are idle threats made to scare you into paying .There is really nothing they can do except harass you.Your boss will have to understand this. He is not responsible for your debts. You need to read the thread above regarding closing your checking account and opening a new one, so the debits will stop.
Please gather all the requested info, so we can better help you.

Hehe. It looks like Goudah has the state law part covered. File the complaints and make darn sure your bank account is locked up so they can not ACH it. I would recommend getting a new account at an unrelated bank and using it for any future transactions. Do not use it for any PDL????????s or it will start the cycle again and you risk one of the old companies figuring out the account number.
Once you file all your complaints, send cease and desist letters
Once you file all your complaints, send cease and desist letters and send copies of the complaints to each company they tend to back off and either settle or give up all together. If PDL's are illegal in Maryland then you legally owe nothing. These companies have two options to get money from you. First, they can call and harass you into paying which is not legal. Second, they could try to sue but the suit would be in Maryland and they would lose since the loan was made illegally. If you feel a moral obligation to pay them I would pay the principal only on your terms after you pay all essential bills associated with food, transportation and shelter.

good morning to everyone. just signed back on. i called the company vip cash club yesterday, they are the ones who threatened my boss. i asked if they were fdic, and her response was "sure we are". so when i asked if i could have the number, she asked who i was. i told her i was just trying to get some information on the company, and she hung up on me. i think it is actually a collection agency that vip sent my account to. but i cannot locate any information on them. i did talk to a couple of attorneys yesterday, and they said that they cannot bring my boss into this. but i am pretty sure this one is not a payday loan. somehow when i applied for the pdls, they responded. they did deposit 300.00 into my account, but they said it was a rebate for purchasing their services. once i cancelled the services, they said i needed to refund the money. so i'm not sure how to handle this one. they still seem like a pdl to me. at least they are acting the very same way that the pdls are. anyone ever heard of them?

i guess it is suppossed to be like one of those road side assistance services or something. i'm not sure. all i know is that i applied for a pdl, and these people called me. there were very pushy about sending me the money, called several times a day until i finally listened to them. they said they would deposit 300.00 in my account within 24 hours, and that i would pay 90.00 every two weeks. i honestly thought it was a pdl, as soon as i discovered that it wasn't, i cancelled the services. they even acted the same way as pdl, calling my bank to verify my account, all the same as the pdls that i applied for

Karen,I would say it was a pdl...there are several that offer services to disguise what they really are..so to speak. That is why Kash was asking about the phone card. They certainly are acting like a pdl. I searched this site for other threads on them and there are a couple. One mentioned VIP as a scam company. If you want to look them up, use the search box in the top right corner of the page..just type in VIP Cash club and you will get the threads. Roxy

thanx so much roxy. as soon as i sent them the email, they tried calling my cell phone. i guess they didn't get what i was trying to say. i have no problem paying these people whatever they say i have left to pay, even though i have been told that internet pdls are prohibited in the state of maryland, but they will have to do it on my terms, through the mail, on a payment plan, not through any bank accounts or western union. i know i got myself into this mess, i got caught at a very vulnerable moment, in the mist of a separation from my husband, and very worried about how the bills were going to get paid. but i will no longer be a victim. they will have to accept payments on my terms, or they will have to take me to court

Karen, we have all been there. I paid bills for my parents while my dad was sick...You are doing great. This is overwhelming and confusing and aggrevating. It maynot be that they did not get what you were trying to say rather, they are going to do what they want. Just be firm and consistent. Make every attempt to keep all communication in writing...documentation, documentation. - Roxy

If quickest-cash-advance has sent you to collections, do not be alarmed. Quickest-Cash-Advance is unlicensed/illegal in the United States. Same goes for MTE Financial. Quickest-Cash-Advance is a d/b/a of MTE Financial. Unlicensed/illegal. Period. So their collection agency will be unlicensed/illegal. Tell them to bite you.

karen, you're sending out letters to your pdl's, right? I don't think you have yet. Your state prohibits pdl's. These guys are unlicensed/illegal.You can send your letters stating you will only pay the principle amount of the loan. Nothing more. However, I do have to inform you that you can LEGALLY not pay them a dime. They have no legal recourse to collect on an illegal debt. However, the majority of people pay just the principle amount of the loan only because they received the funds and feel the need to pay it back. It's your decision. You can put in your letter that you will pay the principle amount only & of course they can only get payment from you via money order since they can't get your bank account any longer. Or you can chose to send a letter basically stating they are unlicensed/illegal and pdl's are illegal in your state and they can "bite you". LOL! Just kidding! Actually, it's up to you. Like I said, your bank account is no longer accessible to them. You can pay on your terms your own way. However, the majority of pld's will refuse to give you a physical address to mail payment to. They will insist on money gram/western union. I personally will not do this. I personally feel as though if they can not give me a physical address to send payment to, then they do not want their money back bad enough. Let me also inform you that no matter what you do - whether it be pay the principle amount back or pay nothing at all - they are not going to be happy. They are going to insist you owe $1000 on a $200 loan. It's entirely up to you how you want to handle it since they are unlicensed/illegal and pdl's are prohibited in your state. Sorry I rambled so much.
