I have a serious problem. I have an account with Washington Mutual that went into collections (Because of payday loans). The collection agency, ERS Solutions bought the account. I had set up a payment arrangement with them to take out 197.00 every month until it was paid off. I have paid two payments so far (there was only 2 payments left). The third payment was returned because I didn't have enough money in my account. I called them to try to explain what happened and if there was any way that I could work out a further arrangement with them. She told me I could settle for $197.00 and the payment had to be received by 9/28. I don't get paid until 10/1. I explained that to her and she pretty much said tough crap and that she wouldn't do anything with me. She said that it would stay on my credit for 7-10 years. What are my options at this point? I don't have the money to pay until 10/1. I am so upset right now. Someone help!

I actually called the bank and explained what happened. I told them I only had 2 payments left but that I could not come up with the $400.00 that the CA asked for. She said she was sorry that I was so upset and that I could just go into a local branch and pay whatever I could every paycheck. The lady at Washington Mutual was so nice and made me feel better. So I am just going to go to a branch and make payments. She told me that once I pay the collection off, she would send me a PIF letter and will take the collection off of my credit report completely.

ERS the meanest worse collection agency in the USA. Their manager must be a horrible person because they have no brain, feelings or understanding about what is going on in the USA today with the un-employment. I wish they would all loose their jobs and maybe then the heartless employees would understand how it is out here for the last year and realize, hopefully, that we are not lying about our situations especially since we are probably their parents ages and lived a good life till now and we are beyond hope but still try to find work daily. I too was with WAMU and used to be my favorite bank before Chase.

This agency has been brutally harrassing my son regarding a verizon bill. Verizon solicited my son, he was under age when they gave him a contract, phone etc. I have contacted a lawyer and the fair 1 protects debtors from this kind of treatment. Mention that to them threaten legal action. You must pay your debt but do not have to be called 10 times per day. End of story.

My Debt was bought by ERS from Dept of Ed. They want me to pay $737 up front, in order to be able to pay a monthly bill. I told the rep I wasnt working at the time and needed another option. They told me that was the lowest they can go: The $737 upfront and then $450 ea. month. I dont know if they think I live on the streets with no bills but uh--- wtf. Not to mention how rude they are, calling me by my first name when they call my cell after, I specifically told them to NOT call that phone.

Is there anyplace else I can pay to actually pay what I owe? ERS has added an extra $14,000 onto my owed balance. What should I do? Their screwing up my credit and my life.

BrokeNconfused, your loan debt from DoEd was bought by ERS? As far as I can gather, there are two ERS debt collection agencies(I think there's a third ERS): one, Enterprise Recovery Systems, Inc. and two, ER Solutions. ERS, Inc. is HQered in Illinois and ER Sol. HQ is in Washington state I believe. I think both deal with DOE accounts. Which one are you dealing with?

I haven't answered their calls. I was curious to find out who was calling me from a different number with each call. They always call and because I don't answer, they call right back exactly one minute later. If I'm unfamiliar with a phone number, I don't answer a call, especially if no message is left... ever.

I took a class online through Ashford University, which I received a scholarship for about what the class cost at the time. As far as I knew, the account was paid by the scholarship based on the letter I recevied with the disbursement dates. In the event something had occured, and my account had not been paid, shouldn't have someone contacted me or sent me a bill before sending me over to this collection agency?

Though I haven't contacted ERS I was told my account had been placed with them. I was covered with financial aid for all my classes taken at Ashford, but Ashford charged me instead of my financial aid. Now I cannot get my transcripts from them. If you know anyone looking for online school steer them far away from Ashford. The online financial aid program isn't even through the school it's from a second party in San Diego.
