because i was young and dumb i got into credit problems and never paid back the credit card companies. it's been 7 years since i avoided paying and it finally caught up to me. just recently i received a notice saying i had default judgment against me for 2k dollars. 1k in interest and attorney fees. finally it has caught up. i know other comapnies will follow suit. it going to get worst as a just started a job after of going to school. i don't know what to expecte now. what is going to happen after the judgement how long before the go after my bank account that has 4 dollars in it for years. and i have car which isn;t worth much. will they garnish my wages? i'm in illinois.

i have about 15k of debt, but realilty i really only spent about 5k of the credit limit of all the accounts put together. all the rest is interest because of none payment. what should i do. what should i do. i really at a dead end on what to do.

please help me. need need some guidance.

Did you register for a free debt consultation if so
a debt counselor will be in touch with you. If you haven't done that, do that and that will be your first step or you can contact them at the 1-800-601-1579 that entitles you to a free consultation with a debt counselor. They will be able to give you some ideas on how to go about starting in on your credit situation.

I know it' scary but you have already taken the first step in acknowledging that you have unresolved debt issues. Your next step will be to start contacting your creditors.

Someone with more expertise will be along to advise you on your next step. I think I have given you a starting point. Keep us updated and if you have anyother questions please post and we will help you along the way.

Eleroo, these are most likely very old debts bought by one of the sleazy collection agencies that deal with trying to collect on sold accounts. These guys can be the worst to deal with, because they have spent money buying the account. They will stop at nothing.
Tysir
My suggestion would be to call each one, and ask for a debt valadation letter. They must provide you with documents showing that the debt is infact yours

okay i'm going to send out validation letters to all the creditors. i have my credit report on hand. which one should i look for the ones that say open or revoliving account? i do have a credit card right now that i have 300 limit on and i strictly use it for gas. anbd have been paying that off religiously.
thanks everyone so far for the encouragement.

so if that debt that i have a judgement on is way pass statue. what should i do? can it be ignored or i have to vacate that and take them back to court.

Hello tvrsir,

Welcome to the forums. I would suggest (like previous posters) for you to get credit validations to begin with. See exactly how much you owe and who you owe it to. Cal the number on the right side of the screen. Talk to the credit coucelor Im sure they will light up your day :)

Good luck and dont worry you'll be fine :D

hi everyone i have printed and wrote all the letters to my creditor. now i just have to mail it. but what do i need to do to know that they have actually received it. usps ceritified? please let me know.

also what should i look for in a validation reply? like the orginal creditor or something? i really would like to settle the debts outta court. but i hate to pay the interest and bs fees they have applied. please let me know. from experience. would a creditor take half what is owed? i'm been talking to family member and they have been supportive they said they would loan me money for no interest. to get me back on my feet.
