I am a foodie...I love talking about food, reading about food, watching it on TV and of course consuming food. About mid-day I start thinking of what I am going to have for dinner.

So tell us, whats for dinner tonight in your home?

Volley was kind enough to share a recipe with me for Mexican street food that I am definitely going to try this weekend. I looked if the fridge to see what I needed and was checking out the hot sauce. The one I would use for this is called Cholula. I am out of it. I did find Tabasco which I use primarily on seafood like clams and oysters, Franks which is good on chicken as in wings, this habenero stuff that I bought in the Mexican store that will last 20 years because more than a couple drops could be fatal, Sambal an asian chili garlic sauce that is deliciously hot. But I am out of two of my favorites Cholula and Bodines Original Red which I love on fried chicken but I can only get it through my job as we rep their sister company that make emergency lighting products. They have a pepper fest here every year where all the masochists gather to suffer as much tongue torcher as they can stand. I was one of them this year until I came to a sauce called "Al Gore, I invented hot sauce," which burns you immediately and lasts forever. So what hot sauce do you like? I know Volley is going to jump right on this one!

Florida is great in the winter when the weather is cooler. The heat starts in late April and does not let up until now! We have to go to several stores to go food shopping because the prices are so high and the sales suck! I miss Shoprite! The diverse culture here is a big plus as are the endless white beaches. But no big crashing waves. Everything has a trade off!

Frog, the best shrimp cocktail sauce is a mixture of ketchup, mayonnaise, and homemade datil pepper sauce. Store bought datil pepper sauce is horrible. But When we make our datil pepper sauce we through in some jalepenos too. That is about all the spice I can handle. But we ake a hooter version for my husband and grandfather. That's all my grandfather uses for condiments is the datil pepper sauce. It goes on everything. He makes my grandmother carry a bottle of it in her purse for when they eat out.

It is basically a kind of hot pepper. I found this description online:

Quote:

A distinctly different small hot pepper called datil has been grown in the St. Augustine area for some time by gardeners. It is particularly preferred by the Minorcan community of that area. Of course, it is not restricted to that part of the state but may be grown elsewhere
