Are Ameriloan and Payday Yes Legal in California

Call the Dept of Financial Institutions of your state and verify the license of these two companies. I know that CA has banned some companies from lending in the state. If they are not licensed, you are required to pay the principal amount only. Ameriloan is discussed in most of the forum topics. Do a search and you will learn more about their business.

Are they storefront or internet pdls. Most likely, they are legal if they are storefronts. Most of them follow the state guidelines.

ameriloan is not legal in CA. Ameriloan was issued a Cease & Restrain Order by the Department of Corporations in CA in August, 2006. When I mentioned this to Ameriloan and asked them to mark my account PIF, they did. Please also file a complaint with the Department of Corporations...they are still currently working on legal action with this company.

A month ago when I was checking them out they weren't even licensed in the state they are out of which is Nevada if it's the same ameriloan I was with. I sent letters,emails and I also faxed it to them and I haven't heard from them yet. But I had overpaid them so that might make a difference.

stanner, you are correct. ameriloan is unlicensed/illegal. They are not licensed anywhere in the United States. Don't you love it?

Ed, how much have you paid to ameriloan so far? If it were me I would just pay back what I owe on the principal and nothing else since they are not licensed at all. If you have paid the principal amount already and still owe I wouldn't send them another dime, but that's just what I would do. I sent them a letter telling them that I have already paid what I borrowed from them and then some and I would not be sending anymore money, also I put in there that they are not licensed with anyone anywhere... just let us know where you're at.

And in the states of Oklahoma, California and Maryland there are no business licenses in any of these 3 businesses indicating them the legal right and authority under financial institutions to operate and provide servcies to consumers. Therefore, their acts are illegal and any person suffering complications may be afforded some remedy according to the legalities of your jurisdiction.
