yeh, you don't need to pay any upfront money before taking the loan. They were trying to scam you and you were careful enough.
they did it to me too
I jsut got approved for a $6000 loan, secured. They want 1052.92 up front to cover the first 4 months payments, once they recieve that they said they would send me the $6000 and take off the 1052 for the total at the end.

We got the same approval with 626.72 upfront because of our credit situation. Has anyone done this??? They also wanted a copy of my husband's DL, and SS card. That was the weird part. I don't think they are legit.
DON'T DO IT!!!! These companies are everywhere these days,
DON'T DO IT!!!!
These companies are everywhere these days, and the amount of people that fall for this scam is shocking.
It's a scam, pure and simple. If a company asks for money up front (ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY!), before they can "fund" your loan, they are scamming you.
Let's say you send the money, and wait patiently for your loan to show up in your bank account, or the check to show up in your mailbox. How long will you wait before you contact the "lender" to see where your money is? A week? 10 days? 2 weeks? A month?
And how long do you think it will take for them to shut down their office and move, change their phone number, and pop up somewhere else, after they've scammed enough people in your area to continue their "business" and line their own pockets?
And SCBurns....if you didn't fall for this scam already, please don't! If you send them your husband's DL and SSN, I can almost guarantee you that your husband's identity will be missing very shortly...and a very good amount of your money and your life with it. They can ruin your credit, empty your bank account, and pretty much destroy your life with the little bit of information you give them.
