dalfire, keep posting these quotes. They are beautiful and inspiring. This is what we need. And anyone else who has a beautiful inspiring quote, please post it. We can come to this thread and read them and it will help. Whenever we need a "push" or something to lift us up, we can come here and read them. I know I printed one of dalfire's out already.

OMG! Ang, that is the coolest! That is not corny! I love that! I swear, I might just do the same thing! What a wonderful quote! And to see it every day first thing in the morning is great! Although I think I'd have to put it on a sticky note on my forhead so I wouldn't forget that! Thank you for posting that. I think it's awesome. Not corny.

Ang, you really ahve some good quotes. I really like the one that goes on all your posts. I always remember one thing my akido instructor used to tell the class - no one has the power to make you angry, only you can make you angry. The same can be said for happiness as well.

Ang, LAw Student- thanks, what great things to remember! I had heard the one Ang said, also the flip side of that.

My clients all had to write down the following- You are looking at the problem-and post it on their mirror.

The point being, not only are you responsible for your own happiness, but many of my problems were self created- so I need to find another way to do things-and not blame anyone else- if you keep doing what you are doing- you will keep getting what you are getting-

Sorry, just read this- the counselor in me popped out- it's a little deep!!..KAren

Thanks Roxy!! I found out- took me many years- that that is where it all starts- with yourslef.

If you don't like yourself- how can others

If you don't respect yourself- how canyou expect others too?

These and others have worked for me--also- everything that you want others to give you-love, happiness, self esteem, respect- you have to learn how to give yourself!!..KAren

A real "wake up call" that makes me remember to appreciate the people in my life, the moments we have together, and to cherish them always. You will never know when is the "last time" you will see them. Treat each day as if it was the last. Savour the moment, enjoy the moment, and never take anyone or anything for granted. Never forget what and who is the most important in your life.

IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY
AND MEMORIES A LANE
I WOULD WALK RIGHT UP TO HEAVEN
AND BRING YOU BACK AGAIN
NO FAREWELL WORDS WERE SPOKEN
NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE
YOU WERE GONE BEFORE I KNEW IT
AND ONLY GOD KNOWS WHY
MY HEART STILL ACHES WITH SADNESS
AND SECRET TEARS STILL FLOW
WHAT IT MEANT TO LOVE YOU
NO ONE CAN EVER KNOW
BUT NOW I KNOW YOU WANT ME
TO MOURN FOR YOU NO MORE
TO REMEMBER ALL THE HAPPY TIMES
LIFE STILL HAS MUCH IN STORE
SINCE YOU'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN
I PLEDGE TO YOU TODAY
A HOLLOWED PLACE WITHIN MY HEART
IS WHERE YOU'LL ALWAYS STAY :rose:

Thank you, pyb. I have it right here in front of me every single day. It would just so suck to take someone for granted and then have them gone the next day. And all the while be so consumed with other "stuff" (such as pdl's, bills, etc.) that you never gave them enough time. I have to read that (and it makes me cry every time) and put myself back where I should be. I try to picture everyone I come in contact with on a daily basis as to what I said or did before I or they left. I want to remember it was something good. That I told them to "be safe" or "be careful" or "I'm glad I got to see you" or "thank you". If I ever was horrible to a person and never got to see them again, I really don't think I could ever look myself in the mirror again.

Cannr- you are so right! I have lost all my family on both sides- none left except mom, brother- I'm not close to, and 2 distant cousins. So I try to make each moment count with friends. I had alot of regret when some of my family members died- not spending enough tome, getting aggrevated, not saying I love you enough.

Now I try to treat everyone like they are Gods' kid- which they are. And to also remember that all of us are going through something in our lives, and just to be kind-to friends, family and strangers.

You never know, that smile you gave someone at the grocery store or bank, may have been just what they needed to go on another day!..KAren :D

Thanks cannr, Bob Hunter has a lot of such quotes. Here are a few from novelist, playwrite, philosopher, Jean-Paul Sartre, whom I've read quite a lot of.

"A lost battle is a battle one thinks one has lost"

"Everything has been figured out, except how to live. "

"Hell is other people."

"If you are lonely when you're alone, you are in bad company. "

And the classic Russian novelist Leo (or "Lev") Tolstoy...

"Music is the shorthand of emotion. "

"The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity. "

"We lost because we told ourselves we lost. "

"If you want to be happy, be. "

It is tough Sass. I lost my dad when I was 27 years old- he was 50-took me a long time to get over that.

It about killed me when I had to put Ethel to sleep last year, I had had other dogs put to sleep, but I think it gets harder each time!!

The point is, if you don't have a heart that can be broken- you will be a person that is cold, unforgiving, and not know love- as opposed to having a broken heart because you do love and have compassion...KAren

sass, the poem I have is next to the picture of my little angel baby dachshund who is across the rainbow bridge. You know that I know exactly how you feel. I cry every time I read it. But it does go for people also. It just so happens that I came upon it when my little angel passed away on me while I was at work one day. I'll never forget the guilt that I wasn't there for her. Okay. Now I'm bawling. But, I just wanted people to see how quickly things happen. Let every moment count. Because you never know when the last time you see someone might be. I'm sorry to be depressing (as I wipe away the tears). But it really gives me a "wake up call". I'm glad you liked it. I love it. It's sad, but it's so true. Love you sass. And love your babies. Mine are right here with me.

Cannr I love you and your babies too! Now I am bawling once again..............I love my little babies so much and I feel guilty that I don't spend enough time with them because I know one day they will be memories. This morning I had to put little Abbie in her cage so I could take a shower and her paw got stuck somehow and she was crying.........it's ok though, she jumped on the bed with me right after. These doggies are gifts from God.

sass, you poor thing! Talk about guilt! I know. I feel as though I don't shower mine with enough attention. I know my life would not be the same without them. They are my pleasure in life. They are who are waiting for me to come home. They are who I wake up to in the morning. They are who are always glad to see me no matter what. And I can do no wrong in their eyes. Okay. Now I'm crying. But, I can never repay them for what they have given me.
