I received a letter in August about settling my debt. I did not have the funds at that time and did not call. I have spoken with the debt collector that now has my account and even paid $1000.00 off of the debt. They now want to know where the money is coming from. I stated from my sister. They now MUST know where she is getting the money from to pay my debt or they can not give me an extention to pay this off. Is this correct and how can I get around this collection person?????????????

First of I must say that I have never heard of such a thing :? . What business is it of theirs to know anything about your sister :o . I would contact that person's supervisor and speak to them. Do as stefan states and provide us with a little more information so that someone can advise you on exactly what you should do.

There are alot of knowledgable people on here that will give you advice that you could consider.

Basically what is happening is that they are trying to validate the source of the funds. This is a strong arm technique used by CA's to control the situation and show you "who's in charge".... do not give in. When I worked in mortgage collections, we would validate the source income because the person applied and was approved for a mortgage and now they have no income...we had property tied to the debt that we had to secure.

This seems different. If you dont have it but say its coming from someplace else, they need to be satisfied with that and shut the heck up. If they dont grant you the extention and you send the money in anyhow, they arent going to send it back.

What company is this?
