Hi all, I am seriously commiting myself to finally getting out of debt!

So I got my credit report from all three agencies (ordered a 3 in one from TransUnion). Boy, is it UGLY!

Things I noticed:

1. Best Buy card/HSBC is listed twice. First time listed it has a wierd account number and is only under Equifax and says Closed (Transferred). The second time it's listed it has a different account number, and is listed under TransUnion and Experian and says Derogatory on it.
Why is it listed twice like this?
2. I have an account listed on here that is not mind, it's my girlfriend's. I am an autorized user.
Can I dispute this, get it off my credit report?
3. Most all my accounts are marked Collection/Chargeoff. Some are listed a second time under a collection agency, some are not. How do I know who to contact, the original creditor or the collection agency?

I know my first step is to send DV letters to all, but this report is very confussing! Help, please!

Look at the double listing closely, sometimes one is the original creditor and the second is the CA. I think this type of double listing is permissible because it is two separate places doing it.

I have heard you should dispute off your old addresses, phone numbers, etc...it makes it harder for CAs and the CRAs from validating (verifying) anything. Just dispute as not your address or that it is so old and the possibility of many people living there that you fear identity theft.

Also scrutinize the listings, I bet you that they are being listed wrong with the sole purpose of messing with your credit score. For example an entry listed by a CA should have an account type of collection, no terms, no past due (unless you previously agreed to these things). Mine had things like revolving account, installment account???????they might have been this with the original creditor, but once it gets charged off and bought by a CA it is no longer listed like that.
