wrong address on my equifax file
Date: Tue, 09/25/2007 - 11:03
Does anyone know how this could have happened? Is this a big deal? Should I contact equifax or will it sort itself out? It was correct the last time I pulled my report last week.
Thanks.
I'm sure if u send them something it will straighten it all out.

Defintely contact them 8) . You may have to prove that your address that is listed as your old address is really your current address though. That shouldn't be difficult as you probably have bank statements, or utility bills in your name at that address.
That should be an easy enough fix for them to update your credit report with the new address and do as eleroo states and go over your credit report with a fine tooth comb.

Disputing it wont cause you a lot of trouble. So, send them a dispute letter with copies of proof that your old residential address is actually your new address. send the letter via certified mail with a return receipt request.

I know this is 2011 and the original poster posted in 2007 but Equifax is doing this to other people as well and still up to it. Equifax had my previous as "current" and new as "old" address. I put in a dispute online since this info was false. I sent in the copy of license and stuff and today got their "reinvestigation results" letter. They got the new address right but are adding part of the old address to the new. Now there's two apartment numbers listed in my address and now TransUnion telling me via letter "RE: Initial Fraud Alert requested by you or on your behalf". Now an alert will be on my account for the next 90 days! Now I have to call and correct the address again with Equifax and try and get the fraud alert off my account from TransUnion.
The same thing.. Equifax has been doing this fraudulant thing..
