Hi. I live in KY. In the past two months I have been sued by Asset Acceptance and Midland Funding. I hired an attorney for the Midland Funding, it was for $2400.00 My attorney did not want to fight it he advised I just pay it because it was a small amount. Go figure. It was a large amount to me. Anyway the lawyer told me the statute of limitations in KY is 15 yrs for written contracts. Said credit card was considered written contract. My mother agreed to help me with these two bills. Anyway, I have an outstanding Capital One account from 5 yrs ago. I want to pay it off before some slimy CA gets ahold of it and sues me. My question is how do I go about this. Do I contact Capital One directly and request a settlememt?

Hi guest. Isn't it funny how someone can say "just pay it...it's such a small amount!" To me, $2400 is like one million dollars! Good for you for taking care of the capital one. I hope they offer you a good settlement amount and you can be done with them. I will be having to deal with them soon, but I want to save a little money so hopefully I can negotiate to pay them off at one time. Please come back and let us know how everything goes. :-)
