I got this email:

Quote:
After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that
you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $268.32.
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to
process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons.
For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

To access the form for your tax refund, please click here

Note: For security reasons, we will record your ip-address, the date and time.
Deliberate wrong inputs are criminally pursued and indicated.

Regards,
Internal Revenue Service

I clicked on the link. It pops up another window which brings you to a form that asks you to put in your SS#, debit card # and ATM Pin #.

The first thing I thought was its a new way for PDLs (or other scam artists, but they are really all the same, aren't they?) to get your banking info.

I forwarded this email to the IRS phishing email addy, and will let you know what I hear. Just wanted to warn people to be careful.

It is a scam. I get this on the average of 2 x a week. Please never put your banking info on these things. This IRS thing has been going around for a while. In the pay day loan section there is a thread beware of new scam, which has this one in it.I am so glad that you didn't fall for this
