Grr Grr. I am so mad I can spit! Just to get it off my chest, Clearwire Wireless Internet sucks!

My fun journey began when my apartment complex suddenly decided not to renew the lease..so we had to move. We moved, but our wireless doesn’t catch the signal very well, if at all, no matter where we tried…I did manage to get a weak signal when I held the unit up over my head and lifted my right leg up. *sigh*

So, we call and cancel service. Lady says that we will be billed until they get the leased modem in the mail….I told them that I couldn’t send it until the end of the month due to having no cash..the move wiped us out! She said no problem, once they got the modem back the account could be put to rights.

Soooo..I send it back and get a bill over 300 bucks! WTF???? Not to mention they call every damn day now. They are charging me for 2 months service, a $5 late fee, a $25 service disconnect fee (love that one..a disconnect fee for a closed account) AND A $180 Early termination fee!!!!

So round and round we go..they say the charges are valid because they didn’t get the modem for a month (despite what the first lady told me on the phone) and apparently in my contract it states that if I move and service doesn’t work, I still have to keep it or pay the early termination fee!!! WTF??? Sooo…I have to pay for service that doesn’t work? I don’t think so.

Now get this..I ask for the addy for corporate to send a dispute letter..and she refuses to give it to me, says the manager told her not too!!! I can send an email….hmm..yeah considering emails wouldn’t stand up in court I think..hmm..I am so pissed and now not sure what to do.

I don’t see the point of sending my dispute in an email…..it is not admissible in court and I do fully intend to see this thing through..it is just ridiculous! I am sure I can find their company info if I tried…Oh and also they do not accept payments in any form but credit/debit card. Bunch of bunk.

Anyone got any ideas on what my next move should be?

IF you don't have a copy, I would ask for one, first of all.

Why won't e-mails stand up in court? I thought I read somewhere that they would- but could be mistaken.

Have you done a BBB search, or did a reverse lookup, or whocalledus, on them to get their addy?

That is ridiculopus about the credit/debit card! I know people that have no bank account- what dothey do, or no credit card? I had a CA tell me they only accepted cheks over the phone or by mail. I said ok-then mailed them a money order-they didnt refuse it!!..KAren

I just heard somewhere that it is harder to get emails accepted in court cases, but personally I'd think it should be used..you have written confirmation from them..BUT if they never respond they can just claim they never got the email...I think that is where it gets iffy.

I will make my dispute in email and ask for a copy of the contract....I don't seem to have one.

Yeah....apparently the contract states that they only guaranteed service at the place you originally got service...so..if you move and it doesn't work too bad. I just can't get over that one.

Unfortunately I didn't keep that addy...I didn't think any of this would happen. Heh...dumb me.

I need to find out if wording their contracts like that is legal....I can't think it would be legal to bill for poor service. I didn't read the contract that closely, I just assumed it would be legal and on the up and up.

Well a few years back we had some dealings with our local cable company over equipment that was turned in to the service tech.... i HAD the paper work so could prove it... after i faxed it to them and they told me all was good, i threw it out... BIG MISTAKE! A month later my cable got disconnected while i was at my dad's funeral.... SIGHS! I had been a loyal customer for 20 years and jsut like that they disconnect my service? WTH??
Long story short, i will NEVER deal with this company again and i keep everything forever now! ha ha

This company just continues to piss me off. I sent the email a week ago. Haven't heard a peep (except the damn phone calls). I talk to a rep today, explain that my email was not answered. No help at all, now they give me a fax number...STILL won't give me corporate. Well, I am through playing with them.

I looked up the info on BBB and got their corporate info (sticks tongue out at stupid clearwire rep)

They are also a member of BBB. So I guess my next step is sending a letter to corporate.

I just have the feeling they won????????t budge, since they haven????????t yet. The only other thing I can think of is to lodge a complaint with the BBB.

Anyone know what laws would govern an internet service provider? I read over some utility codes, but that was mostly for gas/electric/water and telephone, it never really said anything about cable/internet.

The credit billing act I don????????t think helps me since that seems to be worded specifically for credit cards.

I just can????????t figure out where to look up laws/codes/etc on them sticking me with service after I cancelled and that bogus wording in the contract (that I am still sure I never signed ???????? they claim we signed electronically, but I don????????t remember any contract and I am also sure that the guy who came out to install the modem is the one who set it up..but oh well.) about having to keep service even if it doesn????????t work.

Anyone have any ideas before I pull my hair out in frusteration?
