I have gained so much knowledge from all of the people here and are amazed at how everyone helps each other.
I had filed a complaint against Paycheck Today with my Wisconsin DFI. They have now listed my account as written off. Can anyone tell me exactly what that means?
How did you find out it was "written off"?? Did the PDL tell you

Paycheck Today may have written it off but then they can send it to one of their lovely collection agencies. They did with mine. So be careful. But I am also from WI and the DFI sent the CA a nice letter and they backed off. Just like Volley asked, how did you find this out? Did you call Paycheck Today? Or did you get the letter form the DFI?
I signed into my accoutn online and it said it was written off.

I would call and ask what that means...or send them an email or a letter if you dont want to call.

Thanks. I thought so:(
I have emailed them repeatedly with a return receipt. They have yet to open an email. I worked with the DFI and they have not responded to her either.
Do you know what will happen next with a collection agency?
I have sent the letters revoking the debit authorization, revoke of wage assignment, and wage garnishment but I am sure that will not apply to the collection agency. I have closed my account as well.
I am concerned about the trouble they will start with work and references. The loan was for $150.00.
I have offered to pay the $150.00 ($25.00 a month). But I wnat the loan frozen at $150.00. I have the email solicitation- which makes this loan illegal.

I have one more question. I also had a loan with Cash Advance net. I emailed them to set up payment arrangements (on $250.00). Again, an email solicitation (which makes it illegal). I had paid I think anywhere from $120.00 to $240.00. When I mentioned I was working with the Wisconsin DFI they stated they had no record of a debt with me at all. Good news or bad news?
Sorry to say that could be bad news. It could mean that it went
Sorry to say that could be bad news. It could mean that it went to a collection agency. Just wait for a letter or a phone call.
Have you forwarded those e-mails/ sent copies to the DFI? if not I would do so asap.
I have dealt with paycheck today and they did not respond to the DFI either for me. Then they sent it to ARM which is nasty to deal with. Then the DFI steped in and sent them a letter and they lied soooo bad in that letter. In the meantime I was e-mailing paycheck today almost everyday. Told them about their wonderful collection agency and what I would do if they didn't accept my settlement. Finally I got pretty mean in my last e-mail (I was getting pretty mad lol) and they finally accepted the settlement. And they told me where to send the payments. But Paychecktoday did not call my work or anybody, heck they didn't even call me. The collections, now thats a different story. Oh but after paychecktoday accepted my settlement they called off the CA and I have never heard from them again.

Thanks. I figured so. I will keep sending the emails.
When the CA calls- can I tell them not to contact me at work? Do they legally have to stop calls at work if you tell them?
I have gotten pretty forceful in my emails too. I will continue to be firm. Thanks for your help on this. This sounds like it will be a long battle.

Yes you can tell them not to call you at work. But also send it in writing. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and keep being forceful with them. Don't back down or they will eat you alive. Just think on how long it took you to get in your situation, so it will take some time to clear up. But you are doing a good job of it now. We will be here if you need us. If you have one of those days where they call you 10 million times just come on here and vent. We have all been there. Let us know how things work out for you. Do not be scared to call the DFI if you are having problems with any of this, they have been great and will be a good support for you also.

Thanks puddlejmpr. I have actually learned a lot reading from your posts! Knowing you are from Wisconsin and so knowlegable- I watch for them!
I have been able to make very acceptable arrangements with a few PDL's with the assistance of the DFI ( she has been wonderful) but the illegal ones seem to be the difficult ones. It surprises me as I would think they would not want to bring a lot of attention to themselves. And it's not like I want to walk away from the debt-just do not want to pay the hundreds of dollars extra they somehow think is owed.
I am going to continue to send the emails daily with a return receipt requested. That way-I know they received it and opened it. I figure any documentation helps.
Again, thank you for you help on this. Can't begint o tell you how much it has helped. The info and support from everyone here is incredible!
