Can my bank accounts be frozen by anyone?

Can u explain more? Why would ur bank accts be frozen? DO u have a judgement against u?

R777 In order to have your assets frozen , there needs to be a court order to do so. Did you get a summons that you did not answer? Is there a judgement against you, this would happen if you did not answer asummons

Ya know i guess it IS possible to freeze ur bank acct, obviously. But i got a default judgement, then went to court for discovery and gave them ALL my information. Didn't hold anything back, they had it all! No one ever touched my bank acct.... i did however, put my savings acct into my daughter's name as i was terrified they would empty it. But hubby had a savings acct in his name which is inheritance, so not community property and i told them this, and they didn't touch that either... Guess i was just lucky!

It was a smart move to move your account into your daughters name. Ang , it is so important to answer (as you know) a summons. I think that it is the only way someone can levy, if you default, and the court orders it. You were lucky, I am so paranoid of everything these days

Oh yea Kash i understand that totally. I also was SO scared they were gonna empty all our accts, the reason i put my savings into my daughter's name! But luckily for us, cuz i know this CAN happen and does, that they didnt' touch our accts. Now had we made it to the garnishment phase of the case then it might be a whole diff ballgame... Fortunately they finally took my offer and settled before the court date! BTW.. same offer i made them over a year ago! (before courts and attys)

Sometimes I think they just want to make you suffer. I also believe that there comes a time when they realize that something is better than nothing, so they finally take your offer

I think you are right Kash on this for sure. I think they play the waiting game and then when nothing is moving forward then they decide to chalk up their losses (meaning there ream fees) and settle.
