I find this to be an interesting idea. I think this is a valuable too but then I'm thinking of the positive things that can come out of it and none of the negative really.
Having fingerprints on file at an early age will help identify a lot of criminals as well as get you through the lunch lines quicker!

I think it is a good and bad ideal. Good that if that person turns bad, they can be traced and captured, but if that person grows up to be good, then they are still "branded" as the one who grew up bad. Thus, again, someone is paying for some one else's stupidity.

I think you lost me. If they are law abiding how are they branded bad? Do you mean like on a juvinial record?

But if all children did that from today on in every school it don't see how that would be so. Having finger prints on file to lead to your ID will soon become a reality I think in the next 10-15 years. In a way I am all for it. ID theft is a huge concearn though.

There is a school in the next town that is doing that as a pilot program. The parents can also go online with a password, and see what their kids are eating!..Karen

I don't see anything negative! In the next town- they put xx dollars into their account for lunches. Then the kids just put their finger down on this thing, and it posts they got lunch that day- and what they had. Then when the account is low- it notifies you-sounds good to me!!..KAren

Me too since my son NEVER tells me when his acct is low! And starting this week, all lunches have to be paid in advance and if not then u don't eat!! :(
So we'll see how this works, wish there were somewhere i could go online and see what money he has or doesn't have in his acct!

Having to pay in advance? That doesn't sound fair or even right.
Having to pay in advance? That doesn't sound fair or even right. I don't think schools can reguse to give your kids any food I think they just get something less desireable like a PB&J.
Well the "new" rule here FYI is if u don't pay u don't eat! PERI
Well the "new" rule here FYI is if u don't pay u don't eat! PERIOD! I dont' see how this will work or if they will be able to do this but we'll see here in the next few weeks!

About 3% of the adult population is either in jail or on parole.
About 3% of the adult population is either in jail or on parole. This seems like another tactic used by the government to keep track of statistics on its population in the name of fighting crime forcing 97% of us to follow procedures just to chase around 3% but in reality they want the data for the entire 100%. I see no advantage to a system like this that a simple debit card can not match without sacrificing our personal data. I can see it now, Dear Mr. Smith your insurance premiums will be raised by 20% because of the data we received on the lunches you ate as a child. Actually there is nothing wrong with the way lunch is done right now and it has worked just fine for the past 30 years to my knowledge.
