I received a payment request from Collection Bureau of America in Hayward, CA on Behalf of Comcast-Chicago. I received this on the 5th, even though the bill in question was paid directly to Comcast on August 16th. Has anyone dealt with CBA Collection Bureau?? Are they going to become a huge pain in my side?
I already sent the validation request off to them, hopefully that will settle things, and when they try to validate it they will see its already paid.

Total scam operation. I got a bill for $1500 for a cable box. CBA was usless, I filed a Better Business bureau complaint against Time Warner and they said they've had a lot of complaints about CBA screwing things up.

Whatever you do DON'T pay CBA. Pay whatever you owe (if anything) directly to who you owe and let CBA COLLECTION BUREAU suck wind.

they ARE a rip off!! I agreed to a settlement with them, paid them the first of two installments and they said I still owed the whole amount, which was due on a debt that was 9 years old. beyond the statute of limitation anyways! I just wanted to get it off my credit report. they are soooooo sleazy!!! they wouldn't send me out an agreement but were quick to take my money!

Rip off, I hope you realize that you restarted the SOL when you made a payment on this debt. NEVER NEVER send payments to a CA without having the debt validated, never make payment arrangements without having it in writing! If you sent payment by a check, watch your bank account now. I would close it and open a new one.

they are a scam - at&t was billing me $127 for DSL that they couldnt get working for more than an hour at a time. I cancelled the service and they assured me i wouldnt pay anything. after requesting proof, CBA continued to collect and report to my credit. i just wont a judgement against them in santa monica for $6000 + 95 for court fees.

This company is a total fraud. I have been dealing with them for the past 3 months and they are nothing but a head ache. They placed a collection on my credit report that did not and does not belong to me with out doing their research properly. Only similarity between the person and I was the name, but the social, dob, license were completely different. They refused to do a debt validation. They wanted me to file a fraud report with the police dept. when this is not considered fraud. No one was using my social, we just had the same. Come on, do you honestly think that there is only one "Cody Allen" example... Anyways I had to call the company that the collection agency was saying I owed this money to and obtain a copy of the contract that was signed, which clearly stated this belong to someone. I have since sent the collection agency the information, so I am waiting for there responce. The rep at CBA are just awful. So who ever works there and says that if you call with respect you will get that....is full of you know what. Because I called and everytime I was very patient hoping I could just this resolved but the reps there were very hard to deal with.

I am a recent victim of the careless CBA collection practices that has ruined my credit and caused me thousands of dollars in damages. Collection Bureau of America filed a collection notice on my credit report after I originally disputed the charges from Sparkletts Water (DS Waters). Their actions have resulted in a decline of my FICO score and forced me to pay a higher interest rate on my loan. I am filing a damages action against this agency; however, I am interested to know if anyone else has had a similar problem for a possible class action lawsuit.

THE COMPANY REPORTED ME TO THE CREDIT BUREAU AFTER I MADE A PAYMENT. THEY NEVER SENT ME ANOTHER BILL SO IF FORGOT ABOUT IT. I CALLED THEM TO PAY IN FULL. ASKED IF I COULD USE MY ATM CARD. I WAS TOLD NO, I HAD TO PAY BY WESTERN UNION IF I WANTED A DELETION LETTER THAT DAY. I HAD TO PAY TO USE WESTERN UNION OF COURSE, COSTING MORE MONEY TO PAY THEM. I LATER FIND OUT I COULD HAVE USED MY ATM CARD. WESTERN UNION IS SUPPOSED TO ONLY TAKE 15MINS TO CREDIT ON THEIR SIDE. THEY SEEMED TO HAVE RECEIVED EVERYONE ELSE'S PAYMENT BUT MINE. THE PROBLEM WAS, THEY DIDN'T CARE THAT I WAS WAITING ON THAT DOCUMENT TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS REGARDING PURCHASING A HOME. ONE EMPLOYEE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME HOW PURCHASING A HOUSE WORKED AND I DIDN'T NEED THE LETTER THAT BAD. HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT MY DEAL WAS AND THAT IT WAS INFACT ONE OF THE STIPULATIONS THAT DAY TO HAVE THAT LETTER. I INITIATED EVERY CALL, THEY NEVER CALLED ME ONCE DURING THIS DAY LONG ORDEAL, BUT EVERY TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO DO SOMETHING, CHECK THE MACHINE TO SEE IF THE PAYMENT WAS THERE AND CALL ME BACK, OR FAX OVER MY LETTER...NOTHING. I WOULD CALL BACK IN 20MINS ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY LEFT FOR THE DAY OR WENT TO LUNCH. HERE I AM HANGING ON THEIR EVERY WORD AND THEY JUST BLEW ME OFF. I LEFT SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION TO CALL MY HOME NUMBER BEFORE FAXING, THEY ARE THE SAME NUMBER. I HAVE TO BE HOME TO RECEIVE THE FAX. THEY SAY THEY FAXED IT 3 TIMES AND THE MANAGER WAS "PISSED" AND WASN'T FAXING IT ANYMORE!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? I WAS CAUSING THEM PROBLEMS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FAX TO A BLOCKED NUMBER. I GET FAXES ALL THE TIME! I WAS TOLD, "MY MANAGER IS NOT GOING TO DO THIS ANYMORE, SHE IS PISSED"...WOW!! I WONDER WHERE ALL THESE PEOPLE WOULD BE WORKING IF EVERYONE PAID THEIR BILLS ON TIME AND NO ONE OWED ANYONE ANYTHING??? SO JUST BECUASE A PERSON FALLS ON HARD TIMES, OR LOSES THEIR JOB, THEY HAVE TO BE DISRESPECTED AND HUMILIATED DURING THEIR EFFORT TO MAKE A PAYMENT TO THESE PEOPLE??? I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THEM BEING A SCAM, BUT THEY SURE AS HELL NEED MORE TRAINING IN THE AREA OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY KISS THE UP TO THEIR CLIENTS, BUT TREAT THE PEOPLE THEY HAVE TO COLLECT THE FUNDS FROM LIKE DOGS. MAYBE THEY HAVE ALL BEEN DOING THIS JOB SO LONG THEY HAVE BECOME JADED. BAD NEWS TRAVELS FAST.....

My wife calls AT&T to see how much calls to Thailand (to our potential nanny) would cost and told that the calls would be .25 cents on our plan...

$850.00 later my wife and I faint. Call AT&T and they do not budge syaing we owe and so and so forth... then it the calls come (because who has $850 lying around when you can make internet calls for free)..

Now 3 yrs later we go to refi - low an behold my wife creidt scros is SOOOO low and dont know why... then the creidt score comes and the CBA AT&T charge of $850 is sitting right there...

my wife is so very much to blame. the good news is I have $850 lying around to blow on my wife's stupidity so my wueation how do I take care of this so my her credit score increaes and we can get the damn loan?

3 yrs ago I recall the calls the automated calls and me going to my wife asking what this is all about and her reassuring me she will take care of it...

I am sick to my stomach - dont worry I dare not actually blame her for this, if our children loose their home over this my wife wouldn;t be able to look at herself.

So what to do? How do I pay this, ensure its is taken care of and removed from our report?

Please help!

I start making calls today to AT&T - they tell me they have no notes in the system stating tat we requested a intl long distance plan. The phone was disconnected due to non payment (presumably becuase we wrote a $5000.00 check for the Aupair earlier that month - my wife calls them to resolve the issue so she can start interviewing nannys in Thailand and brazil. This call was made specifically to get the phone turned on and verify what it would cost to call the nannys - she verified the rate was $3/min without the intl plan and .20 a min with it. She adds the intl plan over the phone -....makes the intl calls and gets charged at the $3.00 rate. she then disconnects the phone service and switches to comcast....not out of spite but i do recall their being some issue about AT&T's service. I don;t know if it was customer service or what exactly the issue was but we had had it...we were DSL customers for over 6yrs and we had nothing but issues but we did hang on becuase DSL was faster then any other service that is until comcast came along.

The bottom line is AT&T sent this to CBA out of greed - we disputed the calls - convinently AT&T says they have no records of these calls that dispute this were made by my wife. I can guarantee these calls that dispute this were made. There is somethign REALLY wierd going on here.

We are now digging through our old bills determined to find evidences against AT&T and we plan on bringing it to small claims court? Or something - I am not going to let this die because it is simply wrong.

CBA aka Shawn Moon is a fraudulent company. They said we owned 65 dollars to ATT for equipment we had not returned. Well, having dealt with people like this before, I keep all my receipts. I told them the equipment was returned and pried their fax number out of the woman named Denise. I then faxed her the receipts and oops! Never heard from them again. So we called ATT to see if our equipement got there, which it did. And they told us that they NEVER use collection agencies, they collect inhouse and the amount would have been $250 not $65. Lets just say that she was VERY upset that CBA was scamming their good customers in their name. So I faxed the letter to her and she said their Security department would investigate and prosecute. I love that word when it comes to fraudulent scammers, prosecute! They play the same old tired scam of getting your credit report, seeing if there is anything there they can try to get you on and then go ahead and try. I am sure many people pay up when told, like I was, that they would ruin my credit which was worthless anyway. Funny, but we just bought a house with that worthless credit!! DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE ANYTHING!!! Get proof of the debt. Call the real company who supposedly sent you to collection. Don't fall for this tired old scam.

They call our house with a variation of a name of two different people who live here and we can never talk to a real person. We have never received any written coorespondence and are not past due on any bills. They never even say who we are supposed to owe, only that it is a seriously past due account. Completely a scam to get money or account access.

Gotta laugh at the employees defending this company. To those of you who are getting calls at all hours.. Third party collection agencies can only contact you between 8 AM and 9 PM. Oh and they can only contact your family and neighbors once to ask VERY limited questions. If they are calling at different hours or harassing your family and friends, you have a right to lodge a complaint.

to those who say you work for them, you need a legit job. i paid my bill 4 years ago, directly to verizon. cba states i never paid them and they continue to put this on my credit report. i got copies of the paid bill and sent it to cba. they still refuse to remove this from my credit report. EVERYTHING else on my credit report is positive, this is the only negative thing i have and its really a pain in the ass. this should be illegal. I HAVE PROOF I PAID IT, VERIZON SENT THEM PROOF. THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

We got a call from the Collection Bureau of America the other day while on vacation. The said we had unpaid debt from Time Warner. We told them that we have had auto payments with Time Warner since we started and we know they take the money from our account. After we got home we found we had a letter from the Collection Bureau of America stating we owed them 81.00 dollars. We called Time Warner and they said that it was fake. Time Warner said they do not use external collection agencies and that we did not have any unpaid bills. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau.

So I don't have a bill and my credit alert tells me something from cba collections was just put on my credit report dropping it 100 points. I'm furious! I don't have a bill or even an account that this collections could be against. I will be suing once I track this down which I will have to do because I literally have NOTHING to go on other than the listing on my credit report

So, I had a missed call from them a few days ago. Called back and can't get info on anything. For all of the "people who work for CBA".....when are you open? And when I call, why am I prompted to enter my account number? Do you want me to enter my bank account number or is this an account number that you will assign me after I finally get in touch with you? .....I'm just curious....
So, I actually had my credit checked 2 weeks ago, and I have excellent credit and ALWAYS pay my bills way before the deadline....and if I owe any LEGIT business any money, I would think that they hired a few people in THEIR company to contact me to ask for the money....
I mean, these are just my thoughts....And

I just finished dealing with them. What a nightmare. The supervisor admitted her employee lied.

I do believe they are a legitimate collection office but they are completely unprofessional and horrible with following through on things. Once they receive payment they are supposed to follow through with a receipt.....good luck. It took me 6 calls and 5 different employees just to get it done.

Make sure once your payment is made they actually send you the confirmation of payment and mail the letters to the credit agencies.

Keep a paper trail and good notes!

There is absolutely no obligation for a CA to provide you with a receipt. Receipts are a customer courtesy....in collections you are not a customer. Your cashed check or money order is your receipt.

At lunch all the time I hear from the collection guys that people say stuff like "how can you demand money from a customer"... I mean if you're in collections, you really are past the point of the company needing to fight for your loyalty..
