Hess Kennedy...Sad News?

Hess Kennedy is who I decided to go with. I owe $12,000 to various creditors and went with their debt settlement plan (which works for me because I have mortgage payments, etc.). They told me all I had to do was pay some $6000 and all will be taken care of.
They have already withdrawn $600 (soon to be $775) from my account and I have read everything that everyone has said about HK on this board and now I am very scared and very sick to my stomach.
My husband encouraged me to get a hold of HK and ask for something in writing saying that all my creditors will be paid off. I have heard nothing. I now have more creditors calling me.
My questions are:
1) has anyone had a good experience with this company?
2) what do I do now? I can not afford to walk away from nearly $1000 I have put into this (which would have paid off one of my debts)

What kind of paperwork did you sign with them that talks about the creditors getting paid how much/when? Did you sign limited power of attornet to your checking account?

I think that you and I are in the same boat. The have taken $1,584 from me (estimate) and I have been with them for a year. Nothing has been done on ym account that I could not have done myself. They paid one of my credit cards, but that was it. They are still saying that I need more money in my account. I guess I am lucky that at least one of my credit cards were paid, but there is so much more to be done. I am very dissapointed and scared to death after reading all these comments. My husband will be so mad after I report all my research. I think I am going to call tomorrow and ask that my complete contract be sent to me so that I can make sure I have everything (I did all the signing online). After that I may talk with an attorney if things are not handled accordingly. I don't know what to tell you to do. Maybe if you are really concerned after reasearch then talk to an attorney. MegS -- It really makes me sick to my stomach and I just told my husband about 10 minutes ago what I have turned up with this company. I have sent them an e-mail and am calling first thing tomorrow to get something in writing saying that they have agreed to pay all my creditors.

I understand the feeling of helplessness when it comes to credit card debt....been there done that, got the whipping marks to show for it. But why on Earth would anyone agree to something that they found online, signed some online agreement and allow them to remove money from your bank account? My advice, close the bank account ASAP. Open up another bank account with another bank. These bloodsuckers are going to bleed you dry with nothing left to show for it. Go buy a book written by Dave Ramsey called The Total Money Makeover and begin the process on your own. Look at it this way...you got yourself into the mess, now get yourself out, change your habits and become debt free. If I can do it, you can do it. I'm not putting anyone down, like I said, I have been there before. Trust me on this one. The book, The Total Money Makeover costs a whole whopping $14.95 plus a few bucks shipping. Greatest book I ever read outside of The Bible. No, I dont work for Dave, dont get paid by Dave, no way associated with Dave. I have just used his methods and they work. Yes, you will feel the pain when you have to tighten up that budget belt. Yes, you will have to work at it, yes there will be some pain and bruising due to having reduce your spending habits and sucking up some pride. But when you pay that last debt off, you cant imagine the feeling. And it all came from a little book that cost $14.95. Once you are through with the book....give it to someone else who needs help.

I agree about dave ramseys book, i am 22 with alot of cc debt and tried going through careone credit and they dd the same, i got most of the money back and started calling the creditors myself now...it a long road but im in control versus people who never returned my calls or tried to make sense of things with me.
Im sorry we are in these situation but im working 6 days a week plus a side job to make things better for me by the time in 25!!
