Midland and CBCS
Date: Mon, 10/01/2007 - 14:15
Just yesterday I recieved a letter from CBCS who was acting on behalf of Midland. They want to make a settlement with me. I'll be sending a letter off tomorrow morning to dispute this claim. Should I be sending it to CBCS or to Midland? CBCS only has a PO Box listed and I can not find a street address for them.
I'm angry, I'm upset and quite po'd at this. Luckily Midland has an office right down in San Diego. It would take a day for me to drive on down there... But it may be worth it.
Any help would be greeatly appreciated. Whom should I mail this letter to? Midland or CBCS?

I would send a debt validation letter via certified mail/return receipt requested to both CBCS and Midland. That way you've covered your bases.
Have you checked your credit reports to see if this account has been reported on your files and if so, negatively? You can dispute it with the credit bureaus, so the collector will have to verify the debt with the bureaus or the account gets removed.
I absolutely agree with Tiffany. A dv letter should be helpful.
I absolutely agree with Tiffany. A dv letter should be helpful. Also, if I'm not mistaken, you can send things into the credit bureau to help prove that the debt is not yours. Do you have anything that you could send to prove that you were not in the country at the time they are saying that the debt was incurred? Also, maybe sending this info to the ca would be helpful.

Thanks
Thank you all for the replies. I've mailed a d/c letter to CBCS and a DV to Midland. The CBCS one was recieved and signed for. The one to Midland was sent back to me unopened with "RED" printed on the envelope. I used the following address:
Midland Credit Union
5775 Roscoe Court
San Diego, CA.
92123-1356
Is this the wrong address? Is there another that I should try? Thanks all for the great help and support so far.

Did you just get the one that said RED sent back to you? It's possible it was undeliverable due to the wildfires down here in SoCal.. most of San Diego was evacuated.
