He slipped in some water by the water fountain on the way to the bathroom and hit his head on a wall. He is ok except for a trip to the emergency room and 4 staples.

I don't think I could make a 20 minute drive in 5 minutes but I did it.

He is doing well. Thank you for your well wishes!

I am angry at the school. No apologies or anything. It was reccomended by the school nurse even that we take him to the ER for stiches. WTF! I gave them permission to take my son to the hospital in case of an emergency and I consider a 5" gash an emergency! *sigh* I will deal with them on Friday and hopefully the hospital bill will be ready by then.

FYI - I'm so sorry to hear of your son's accident - hope he's feeling better soon!

I understand your anger at the school - my daughter had a school bathroom stall door break off the hinges (from other kids swinging on it and weakening the hinges) and fall on her, gashing her ankle and nicking her Achilles tendon....they never even bothered to call me to let me know, and they didn't take her to the hospital. I came home to find my daughter laying on the couch after school with a bloody bandage on her leg. I was one mad momma!

Oh wow, i'd be angry too Sue! When my son was in 1st grade one night i was in the bathroom as he was taking a bath and he had bruises all over his body, i asked what happened and he proceeds to tell me a little boy at school beat him up! OMG! I was furious! NO ONE ever even called me. I went to school the next day and hte principal was very rude to both me and my son.... I pulled him outta school that day and we went straight to the police station and filed charges!

Ang

Fyi- I'm so glad your son is ok!! I have made several hospital runs at the speed of light!!

I would go to the school and ask them what those emergency cards are for, and what exactly do they consider an emergency! What happens if they can't get the parents, do they wait until school is over and hope they don't bleed to death  This makes me angry- I dealt with this when my boys were younger- made many a trip to the principals office-I'm sure they were grateful when my boys got out of school!!..Karen

FYI...I have worked at four different schools for over 17 years. I have never seen an accident by a child or adult that wasn't taken care of immediately. The students are what we are here for and if one has an accident and is seriouly injured (as was your son) the paramedics are called and so are the parents. As someone stated earlier that is why the medical emergency information is kept on file. If you don't get the answer you want from the principal of the school I would go the the school superintendent's office. I sure he will listen..

Oh FYI I am so sorry to hear that. But you know I have often wondered about that. Now I have my kids call me on my cell phone if something happens at school.

My daughter broke her ankle at school one day and the school was trying to get ahold of me and they called and called work but no one would give me the message. They tried calling at noon and I didn't get the message till after 3 so one of the teachers gave her a ride home. I just screamed at my supervisor, I was was soooo mad. Then I asked why they didn't call her grandmother and they said because it was a long distance number  So the poor girl had to sit for over 3 hours with a broken ankle before I could get to her.

 at Cajun!1 That's what my husband used to say about me when our sons were in school! I even went to the principal when son was in high school and told him I would pull him across the desk if he refused to let my son have his inhaler, and that I was friends with the Judge, and several attorneys, and we would pay him a call--my son was mortified that I did that  Karen
