If you settle a debt with a creditor, will show up?

allied interstate offered me to pay a lower amount to take care of a debt, but they told me that it would show up on my credit report. However, they told me if I pay the full amount originally owed then it would not show up. Is this true?

I think it is up to each collector what will be put on ur credit report. Are they listed now? I think what they are telling u is they will not give u a paid in full or delete.

I don't know if it is true or not. But I would not pay anything until you get an agreement in writing. I am assuming that allied interstate is a collection agency, is that correct? Who is the debt to? Is there a chance that you could work with the original creditor? You might consider that if at all possible. Others will be along to give you their advice.
