Partial Debt Validation?

I received a letter from AS Associates regarding my NMS loan. The last time I spoke (yelled) with Mr. Patton, I told him to send me a debt validation letter and to not call me anymore. Then I hung up on him. Lo and behold, 3 days later I get the letter. In a nutshell, it says that my account has been placed with their office for collection; I haven't been nice and sent them money; Send us a money order today, payable to AS & Associates.
It goes on to say that "this is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information will be used for that purpose. Unless you notify this office within 30 days that you disoute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid. IF you notify this office in writing within 30 days the office will: obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of a judgement and mail you a copy of such judgement or verification. If you request this office in writing within 30 days after receiving this notice, this office will provide you with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."
Here's my question: is this a debt validation or verification? It does have NMS on it, Gregg Pattons name, and a ridiculous amount. I took the loan for $350--the amount is $772.50.
I have done some reading on the site and it seems as if some of the parts of a validation letter are missing.
I know some of you have dealt with the wonderful :? folks at AS. Any thoughts/comments/questions? Thanks

The part in bold is typical on letters recieved from CA's. U ha
The part in bold is typical on letters recieved from CA's. U have 30 days to dispute otherwise it's considered urs! So make sure to send them a debt validation letter before that time is up. Ask them to show u how they came up with that number. Also, usually after speaking with u on the phone they have a certain amount of days to send u something in USPS which seems like that what this is. Just make sure to respond before time is up.
