I notice that there have been no guys in the pub in a while so, being it is October and time for the playoffs, I thought I might put up a thread asking who the favorite teams are, who is going to the series and who really blew it this year. So if you are a Red Sox fan who has bragging rights or a fan of the Mets who played hairball instead of baseball at the end of the season, I want to hear from you. I am remaining neutral because I want to keep all my freinds who are routing for the Cleveland Indians today! Hopefully a plague of locusts won't eat all the turf at Wrigley field so the Cubs might have a chance.
Ladies you are invited to give your opinions too but not about what you like to eat at the game. Even if you are from Baltimore or Seattle.

frog, what??? Ladies like sports, too! LOL! I know there are LOTS of sports fans here! frog, you won't be alone. I promise. I'll make stuff up and post about the games since I don't watch them myself! But I'll support whatever team you want me to! And, I won't talk about food! I promise!

How about the Cubs and the Indians in the series. They are tied at 0 when the ground freezes and the game is called on account of winter. It thaws in the spring and the game is called on account of mud. The ground dries up and the grass and Ivy come back and the game is called on acount of locusts. A big flock of seagulls comes and eats all the locusts. The game is called on account of birds. The birds leave but the grounds crew has since been laid off so the game is called on account of bird sh-t! By now all the players have gotten other jobs!

Hey...just don't talk smack about my boys in NYC. Go Yankees! I know..it's the team everyone loves to hate. Kind of the Dallas Cowboys of baseball. But, you do have to admit that A-Rod is really really HOT! Jeter ain't bad on the eyes, either. But, A-Rod is something else. With everything folks say about them, the Yankees are STILL the winning-est team in baseball. EVER! Let me die in my pinstripes!

yeah....we won't talk about how much the Yankees screwed the pooch last night. We HAVE to win our next game! i won't be able to show my face in public if we get out of the race so early. What is up with them this season? They've got their collective heads up their collective butts! SUCKS! This time of year stresses me out too much.

People!!!!! Puhleeze!!!!!! It's not about the Yanks, OK???? How many of us have gotten our fill of that whiny, cranky George Steinbrenner?
Here's my dream series. Let's give it to two teams who haven't been in it since at least WW2, OK? And by that, I mean the Indians and the CUBBIES!! Harry Carey would be smiling....
And speaking of screwing the pooch this year, I don't even want to get started on my A's!! It was tough times at McAfee Coliseum this year....

Next season will be interesting. Joe Torre gone to St Louis and Russo to the Yankees (it is rumored)as managers. Also, maybe A-Rod, Posada and others gone from the Yankees.

I don't know what Steinbrenner has been going on about Torre. He's the second winningest manager in Yankee history (and that's a long time).

It was a sad sad day when they lost. I'll be really sad to see Torre gone. I keep hoping that the big cheese was only blowing smoke out his butt. And if A-Rod leaves....I won't think about that. I'm sure I'll still be a Yankees fan. It just won't be such an eye-candy sport for me. Hopefully I'll still have Jeter. A-Rod can't leave! I'm almost in tears over this. Well...Jorge Posada is still cute, too.

swedishgirl, by an article I read today, it looks more and more like A-Rod will leave, maybe to the L.A. Angels. As to La Russa (sorry for my earlier misspelling), former Yankee Don Mattingly has also been rumored to be Torre's replacement.

But, you never know about Steinbrenner. Look how many times he hired and fired Billy Martin.
