Can you actually negotiate a settlement on your credit cards? We are actually current on all 4 cards but can feel the strain and are afraid it will only get worse. Has anyone done this before? How did you do it? Creditors U.S. Bank, Chase and Discover.
Thanks spillpill

Have you considered consolidation for the cards? Put them all in one program & make one payment a month instead of 4? Sometimes they cut the interest rate for you even.

Not sure of all the ins & outs of negotiation, but I do know it will affect you credit negatively for some time.

Apply here or call for a free consultation.

Always check out companies with the BBB!

I agree with LeeLee. I think that getting a free consultation with a someone who is knowlegable about debt negotation is a great idea. This way you can become educated on all of your options. I think it is possible to negotiate with the cc co. yourself, but why do it if there is a good company out there who can take that stress off of you? Consolidation is a great way to go, but like LeeLee said, ALWAYS check out the company's reputation with the BBB. Some are just out to charge you outragious fees and will leave you in worse shape than when you started.

I have $100+ in cc debt - I'm doing debt settlement - I am waiting 6 mths from last activity and then I will stop paying and waiting to negotiate. I know that I'm just digging deeper in debt and will never get out if I don't do something - I have three more months to go ..

Spill, the way i understand debt settlement is u must first default on ur cards. The longer without payment usually the better the settlement. So either way it will affect ur credit negatively so u may consider what was suggested above and try consolidating all of them.... Although this does have a negative affect for a little while, after a while of making timely payments ur score will go up again!
Hope this helps a little,
Ang
