Hi everyone. Just to share, I suffer from some sciatic problems. It is on my right side and from time to time, I feel tingling in my foot and have terrible cramping in my right leg. I usually feel it twinge a little each day, but sometimes it really gets out of control and I have to just lie down with my legs propped up on pillows to get relief. Does anyone else here have this problem, and if so, what do you do to get relief?

Thanks Roxy. I'm going to try it. I have been getting by with stretches, and sometimes my husband will press his fist in my lower back really hard. It hurts, but I can feel a little relief. I also have an ice pack on it. I'm hoping that the area is just swollen and pressing on the nerve.

So sorry about the pain Eleroo!

My dad & both sisters get it. I never had it until I got pregnant. As soon as I hit the 4th month I got it. Mine is just a sharp pain in the butt. I can bend down-even if I bend at the knees. Sometimes the pain radiates into my mid-thigh & ends as a dull ache.

I find the best relief is my office chair at home. I think its the angle its on that makes it better & takes the pressure off

Thanks Roxy and LeeLee. I get the pain in my butt, too and it goes down my thigh and makes my calve cramp. I used to do alot of running and step aerobics so that's where it started. I'm going to try the tennis ball trick, Roxy. I will let you know if it works for me. Another thing I heard was to fill a plastic soda bottle with water and put it in the freezer to get it frozen. Then lie down on the floor and roll around on the soda bottle. I haven't tried it yet, but I will and will let you know how it works.

I hope it goes away Roxy!! Its not fun!!

How about a massage Eleroo? Do you have any children in your house? When I was little Dad would have me walk on his lower back to help the muscle.

Roxy, I'm tempted to get a massage, but they are SO expensive here! Its not horrible yet. Good thing about the hospital I'm giving birth in...they have a massage therapist on staff & you get a FREE massage while you are there or a certificate for a free one after!

I do get them from time to time, but unfortunately, they are very costly here, too. One time I had a deep tissue massage and it worked wonders! If I could afford it, I would get one once per week. I'm not kidding! It was really painful to get, but so worth it in the end. I think I could get used to the pain. :-)

Congratulations on your baby, LeeLee. Do you know what you are having yet? I don't have any children, yet...(hoping for one next year. :-) ) But I have a nephew who is probably weighs just enough to walk on my back to get results without killing me!! That's a good idea, too.

The walking on the back worked like a charm. Just make sure you have someone there to hold the kid because I remember being unsteady.

Don't know what we are having yet. One more week!!! I'm so anxious for this week to pass so we can go! We'll find out 10/15 about the sex. I just want 10 fingers & 10 toes, Jim wants a girl, but will be happy with whatever we have.

Maybe for Christmas someone will get me a nice pre-natal massage!

I love kids. Everytime one of my friends or family members have a baby, I make a bigger deal over it than they do!! :-)
I don't care for ice very much, either, but the ice packs really do help...at least for a little while. Long car trips trigger mine, too. I think it's something about sitting in the same position for so long. I have to keep stopping for breaks.

My MIL is the same way with sitting for long. She had disk problems & had them fixed & shaved down...I think one exploded...or hernitated? That's how I spent last summer with my hubby...playing nurse-maid. She still has the pain, but not as bad as before. The disks were hurting the sciatic nerve, but there was no big damage.

It did hurt! Started out as just a bad back. By the summer she was laying on the couch nearly 24-7 on pain meds. They didn't figure out what was wrong until September, then October (actually October 16th...our wedding anniversary) she had the surgery!

You are very excited! Makes me feel loved! Don't worry-I'll be in here that night announcing to everyone after we make our phone calls!!

Awww how cute Ang!!!

I once got a massage for Jim's 30th birthday. The spa was nice, on my way to work, so it'd be a nice day for him. Go get it. He wants the massage 2 weeks later. I call, the message says that they are closed until December due to renovations. December comes. I call. Leave a message. No one calls back. Then the machine is full next time I call. So now its January...turns out the place CLOSED DOWN! Yup! That's why they never answered the phone. Luckily Citicard was great about it. Just had to fill out a form, include a receipt & I got a full refund.

He did! Once we got that cleared up I got him a nice one in town.

That's so cute Ang!! Is she at Grandma's overnight? I always hated staying at Grandma's overnight. The sheets smelled funny. When it was bathtime, she only filled the tub up with maybe 2 inches of water! I was used to maybe 1/2 tub or water or more...and the water was ice cold!

Oh no!!! Grandma snored bad too. At home we were allowed to close our doors as both mom & dad snore HORRIBLE & our oldest sister talks in her sleep. Grandma made us keep the bedroom door open!

We debated that. At first I didn't want to know, but Jim was adamant about finding out. He did point out all the good things about knowing. I did finally come around after a nasty fight once over it (before we got pregnant). He pointed out that he NEVER asks me to do anything for him...which is true-he never makes me do anything big if I don't want to. After all that I relented. I'm glad I did. We have the names & it'll be easier to register!
