I live in Idaho and I have about $3500 in medical bills from a wreck I was involved in and a surgery that was needed and have just received Attorney report statements on both of them and would like to know what would be the best solution to settle this? they are not wanting to cooperate with any payment arrangements and are going to start garnishing my wages and I don't know what to do about it.

Well they can't just start garnishing ur wages unless they get a court order! I was in a similar situation and the collectin agency also refused to accept payments from me. In hindsight, i think i should have just sent them payments and numbered them (example: Payment 1 of 24) How old is this medical bill?? Make sure u check the SOL before making any payment! That's very important! U don't want to restart the statue.
Good Luck and if u have any questions plz ask,
Ang

Welcome to the Community :D Ang is right, they cannot just garnish wages because they want to. What attorney are you dealing with, a local one?

Did you not have insurance? They will say they won't take payments, that they want it all, but usually if you send them a payment each month with a letter saying you are paying xx dollars on the xx day of the month-they won't turn it down.

But be sure they have the authority to be collecting on this debt first. After they validate, if they do, you can go from there. Alot of attorneys are also collecion companies and buy or collect on debts past the SOL, hoping you won't know your rights.

If this is a valid debt, and worse comes to worse, if they file suit, the judge will set up payments anyways. And if you get served a summons, you can file a hardship answer if this will be a hardship on you..Good Luck..KAren
