I'm active duty Army, and got 2 separate loans for $300 each in May and July. I paid back $1,310 total before finally stopping payment on yet another installment. I threatened the company with action from my JAG lawyer and the next day my loan was marked Paid In Full.

I've also got a Cease & Desist from the AG of Oklahoma sent into United Cash Loans over the 2 loans and all the money I paid back, because of new legislation regarding how much Interest military members are allowed to be charged.

I also sent them detailed, highlighted and fully explained Bank Statements (along with my Loan Apps. showing name, bank info and SSN) showing ALL debits and withdrawals made by their Company.

In the C&D from the AG of Oklahoma (where UCL is and where I'm also a resident of) it said "all monies including Principal, Interest and any Charges MUST be paid back to borrower within 10 days". I sent them a Certified letter stating where they may send my refund to, it shows it was received Tuesday the 9th.

In all honesty, do you think I'll see that refund?

and if I don't, do you think threatening them with Military/JAG legal action will make a difference?

Good job Soldier. I'm going through similar issues, except it was for way more than 2 loans. I haven't had to see a JAG yet, but will do that if I need to.
I used the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society, they really helped me. The Army has a version of this, not sure what it's called though (Army Aid Society??).

I had one company tell me today that they'll be sending me a refund, but they want my new account info. Not sure what to do here.

I'm sure others on here can tell you if you can expect to receive a refund.

As for using the Military, it's really helped in my case. My chain of command is on board (hardest thing I've ever done, talking to them) and is really helping me get through this. I'm really not sure what a JAG can do, I don't think they can represent us in a civil matter, I think they can only give us advice.

Thanks for your service, and I wish you all the best.

I called UCL to see what the "progress of my refund" was LOL and the woman said she has no information in her system because my Account has been transferred to the 'Compliance Department'

Ummm OK, I asked her 3 times what that was and what that meant and all she kept saying is "I have no clue, I have no info on my screen except a note to refer you to them" :?

Of course, they have no phone number, only a fax number and email address!

What on earth does this mean?! I swear to god if 'Compliance Department' is code for Collections, they will HEAR me coming for em!
