I think we will eventually here from them again...I defaulted in June...only got 2 emails from their collection center CPD....then I filed complaints with the AG and BBB....they have not answered either of those agencies nor responded to the 3 attempts I have made to contact them.

Hi Jon. How much have you paid them, so far, and how much did you borrow? They are not in the US, as far as I know. I think they are in Canada. Since pdls are illegal and they technically are not legal, I would only pay the principal, though. That is all that you owe. Have you sent them a letter or email requesting arrangements. Don't let the fact that they haven't contacted you in 5 weeks make you think they aren't lurking in the background. They tend to strike when you least expect it. But, now that you have you checking account changed, you know that they won't be getting to your money. :-)

They will come back in one form or another, probably as a collection agency. Take the time to save up the money to pay them off in one lump sum if you still have a balance. They don't go away for long, I didn't hear from two of mine for months until the collection agency discovered my bank account and pulled $500 out of it, which I stopped payment on and then they worked out a payment arrangement that better fit my financial situation. Goodluck

How can the collection "discover" your bank account and pull monry out? THey need a judgment from a court in order to levy an asset. I closed my account, well what I mean is my account was closed by the bank since I owe 900.00 in overdraft fees thanks to mycashnow. I opened in another bank. I owe them 900.00 principal and they are asking for 2200.00 approximately. I think I only paid around $100.00
They cost me my checking acount and overdraft fees from my bank. I have no intentions on paying them a dime and in my mind they owe me money for damages and usery. If i do hear from a collection agency thats good news because that mens they sold the debt. Then I can deal with a collection agency who may be more reasonable.

Morningstar: I think we will be reading about them in the paper soon as being shut down etc by authorities. Just hang on, I am sure they will be forced out of business with all these complaints and investigations. I got the same email from CPD threatening FBI and all that. Its clearly a form letter. I think they will be the ones hearing from the FBI, not us

You're right, Jon. Sometimes collection agencies are a little more reasonable and do work a little more with arrangements. Stick to your guns and pay back your principal. The rest they can just live without. Trust me, they are getting it from others who have not discovered that they are being taken advantage of. But, if we do our jobs right then EVERYONE will know and we can help others stop these companies from ripping them off.
That would be great news...and I dearly hope that happens. Funny
That would be great news...and I dearly hope that happens. Funny the 2 hold outs I have left are both out of the country...so maybe I shouldn't worry about them as much as I do. CPD is their collection agency so I doubt we would hear from a different one.

jon, have you filed complaints with the BBB, the FTC, and your state AG regarding them? If not, please do. This way your complaints will be logged, the agencies will contact them, etc. They may respond to one of the agencies (probably not). However, you still need to file complaints against them.

It seems like the more they hear about a company the better, I filed a complaint on every one of my payday loans, whether they cooperated or not. I wanted the bbb and the ag to know my experience with these rip off companies. We need to get these people on the books so that these agencies are aware. In Pennsylvania, the department of banking has torn the crap out of the ones that are still here, advance america does not even have Pennsylvania on their drop down menu on their website anymore. Amazing, I think this whole process started with consumers complaining, it works. File the complaint and get it on paper. goodluck.
