When I sent my debt validation letter to this company, I stated in the letter to send any correspondence to the address listed in the letter at the top. In a response to a case filed with the BBB, they stated they sent the correspondence to an address they had on file which was given to them by the origionator of the debt. Prior to this account being turned over for collections, I contacted the origionator of the debt and informed them in writing that they had the wrong address and what my correct address was. Evidently it was not changed. NOw supposedly this letter is going to an old address and I would have never known this had I not filed a compalint on them with the BBB. What do I do now? Do I need to send another letter?

I would send them another one, and list your current address several times!!Also, put a "please note current address" memo to it!

Do you still have a copy of the letter that you sent to OC that states wrong addy? If so, mail a copy to them.

Be sure and make copies of everything that you, or they do for the future-has saved my behind several times--Good Luck..Karen :D

After my experiences with ARM I would be willing to bet they are pulling something on you. I had the nice CA and bad CA phone call with them and it ended up that this guy was screaming at me what a loser I was and that I should just pay my damn bills. I turned them into BBB and they ended up responding that after our phone call the original company where I had my loan decided to write the balance off and I would not hear from them again.

You should see the respose I received from them through the BBB...It was unbelievable, claimed i was harrassing them and this was the last statement:

Quote:

ARM provides itself in professional conduct and adhering to all State and Federal laws regarding the collection of deliquent debts. ARM performs background checks on all new hires and is very selective in the interview process to ensure professional debt collectors join our origanization. Infact all associates are tested on the FDCPA on a quarterly basis; all new hires must take and pass the FDCPA before palcing any collection calls.

If their employees are professional, I would hate to see what they determine is unprofessional. My belief is that they sent the letter to the old address to be sure I do not receive a letter. It is really poor when I state in my validation letter which address to use and then they completely disregard what I stated and do what they want.

I just dealt with them and when I called, some uneducated sounding guy answered Hello, no name of the company or anything and I had to pry any and all info out of him. They would not agree to what I was able to pay, instead they wanted a huge amount for a monthly payment then told me if I could not pay the settlement after 6 months of payments the payment amount for monthly payments would increase by 100.00..What the hell??? Are these people for real? I feel like I am being bullied and scammed. Not to mention they wanted my bank account info and my debit card number, I refused and said I would think about it and get back to them. They told me they would just list it as a phone refusal to pay the debt and no doubt will get a judgment and garnish my paycheck. Of course the letter I should get telling me the court date will never get here so I wont be able to plead my case in court. Do I have any recourse in this or am I just screwed?

i've had a few battles with arm of flordia. so far i've kept them off my back. i got that same qoute on my response from the bbb too about how they choose only the most professional people blah blah. and its funny too because they mailed my response to an old address from a year ago. i had my mailed forwarded so i eventually got the letter, but it wasnt until after the bbb gave me their response, and you know how long it takes them, at least 30 days.

After receiving a collection letter from ARM, we called them. The first rep told me that they had sent us the same letter multiple times. I was going to go ahead and pay for the settlement amount, but i couldn't stand how rude she was. finally, i told her i'm recording the conversation(not really). She told me that she's not allowed to have a recorded conversation with a customer so she needed to transfer me to her supervisor. so she did. Her supervisor was nice so I paid for the debt(i did recorded my conversation with her).

ARM is a scam. They are trying to scam me out of money by calling my family members. They have 2 addresses for me for which I have never lived at. They have my social security number. Ha! I told them they have wrong mailing addresses for me 3 times, it isn't me. They can't even fully verify it is me I told them. I told them if they call me or my family members again I will sue them for harrassment. If someone calls you two or more times and you have asked them to stop calling them you can legally sue for harrasment.

You didn't give them any personal information did you? Have you ever received a letter of collection from them via the mail, if so, how recently?

Record your phone calls, I just started doing it and now I call the collection agencies and they hate it. The manager hung up on me cuz I asked 4 the contract, they dont know how 2 respond when recorded, they get agitated and want 2 blow up, eventually they will. They didnt have my # b4 but said since I called they now do and I informed him that I will notify them at that time that I cannnot accept calls on my business line. Play hardball, ask what ur rights r, ask 4 verification, tell em its not your debt, all this is 2 piss em off and hope they violate fdcpa and your recording, if u deal w/ more than 1 person on the line each person must b notified that ur recorded

I began receiving phone calls from Mr. Burns about 6 months ago. He called me repeatedly, at least 10 times per day, at work. I asked him how he obtained my name and number and he refused to tell me. He immediately started threatening me with a claim number that was associated with a law suit that had been filed against me for check/internet fraud. I, being of sound mine and reasonably intelligent, asked him again to identify the company, debt amount, dates, or any other info he could provide me so that I could investigate the debt and respond to him appropriately, and in writing. He refused to provide me anything. This went on for months, him calling me everyday – at least 10 times per day.* After a few months, Mr. Hollinger started calling and claimed to be Mr. Burns’ legal Manager, who was the final person at ARM who would determine when the Sherriff was coming to arrest me, if I didn’t give him a check or credit card payment immediately over the phone. By now, I’m furious, so I got down to their level and told them where to go and how to get there.* Mr. Hollinger (who’s voice irks me to my core) proceeded to call my Director at work, my Human Resource Manager, and My Payroll Administrator, telling them I don’t pay my bills and he would be sending garnishment papers to my job). ARM left me know choice but to file a complaint with the BBB (who by the way, says ARM doesn’t even have a valid business license, nor are they authorized to do business as a collection agency.* I have reported them to the State’s Attorney office, and included the bogus copy of the letter they drafted for me—which was the proof I needed for the company, in addition to over 40 angry threatening messages they left on my work phone.* I won’t rest until this group of criminals are charged with Fraud, Unfair Debt Collection Practices, Harassment and anything else my States’ Attorney can pursue. *Every call they make to me or my employer is just more ammunition that I need to expose them and prove my case. Don’t send them ANY money. They are frauds to the highest degree.* Instead, sue them, and in the end, they’ll wind up paying you!

This company called my mother-in-law and I have absolutely no idea how they retrieved her number - I've NEVER used her number for any contact information - credit or otherwise....Is this legal? Can they do this? She felt threatened and harrassed...what should I do? She was so upset she unable to write down the contact info, so I don't know how to reach them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
