Not necessarily. You need to call the company you are consolidating with and ask them if Capital One accepted their proposal. I fthey say yes then you need to send a letter to Capital One directing them to speak with the consolidation group.

I did contact my debt counselor and she said they had accepted the proposal. So I am faxing a this letter to her and she will contact them. I believe this is a form letter some parts of it did not make sense.

I would also send Capital One a letter stating that they need to direct all future correspondence to your debt counselor.
I will do that also...but I doubt that will make any difference.
I will do that also...but I doubt that will make any difference. They call and send letter constantly..I guess I just need to sit tight and let my counselor deal with them..that's what I'm paying her to do.

Yes Laura, once your counselor gets a creditor to accept the terms and conditions of your program all creditors who agree need to direct their activity to your program and let your counselor deal with it. you have done the right thing by contacting your counselor. Now, when i was in credit counseling I still got bills in the mail from all my creditors BUT that was to let me know that my payments that were accepted through my plan were actually being accepted towards my principal debt. you'll get those bills, or i would think you would, keep those as proof that your debt management plan is working. and of course your creditors are hoping that you'll make a little extra payments but i never did. I let my program and counselor handle everything. In the end it worked out very well for me. good luck

Yes..my counselor explained all that to me...but thank-you. I will try to make extra if possible..but as of now it's just living paycheck to paycheck. But I believe things will get better as time goes on..and probably for the first time in months I will be able to buy gifts for my family and friends for their birthday and such...but not too extravagant! :D
