I requested a validation of debt from the collection agency and never received anything. I sent it out again and they refuse to send me anything. What does this mean? Does this mean that they dropped it or returned ti to the creditor? I just don't want to receive a bill in 4 more years? What should i do if they refuse to answer my letters and I am not calling them because I dont' want them to have my #.

Welcome, jen! :D What kind of debt is the collection agency trying to collect?

Welcome to the Community Jenn :D Alot of Collection Companies will not validate, because they can't!

I have one I have been working on for close to 2 years, no validaton.

If they are being collectors representing the original creditor, they will probably validate. If they purchased the debt, they either will get in contact with you sooner or later-or sell the debt to someone else. I had one do this, and sell and re-sell

I wouldn't call them. Chances are you will hear from them again, or another, one-if you do,just DV them also. You need to make sure this is your debt and that they are legally bound to be able to collect on it.

If you have any questions, please ask..karen

There are a couple of possibilities - one, that the collection agency has returned your file to the original creditor as uncollectible, and they are going to re-sell it to another collection agency to attempt to collect (which means you'll be contacted by a different collection agency on the same debt)....or two, that the collection agency was "phishing" for old accounts to collect on and found yours.

Make sure this debt is still within the SOL before you proceed with debt validation.
