Overpayment to United Cash Loans

I just recently paid off my balance in full to United Cash Loans with a credit card. The very next day they debited my checking account for $150, resulting in an overpayment. Since then, I have been getting the run around trying to get the overpayment refunded. I was told to fax in a copy of my bank statement showing the debits had cleared, which seemed to be a reasonable request. However, when I have called to follow up I get varying responses depending on who I talk to, including that the fax has not been received or that it is still in processing. I was even told that the overpayment had been refunded to my bank account on the same day as the erroneous debits. I was told to contact my bank. Needless to say, these refunds never appeared in my account and the bank has no record of it.

What can I do short of repeatedly calling hoping I get someone who will help?


I don't mean to sound discouraging or anything like that, but I would say good luck in getting a refund with these people. The best you could do is what frogpatch suggested. UCLs will give you the run around and you will not accomplish anything but feel like you are going crazy and more stress. Watch your account though. I would not trust these people as far as I could through them. If your account it PIF, I would try to get them to send you something in writing. But do get the complaints filed and do talk with your bank.

Hopefully if you can show the credit card charges to your bank they will be able to get your money bank. Time is definitely of the essence here, though. UCL is a big, fat pain. They are not easy to deal with. I have heard of people with success, though. Just make sure you keep copies of all correspondence, including emails. You don't want these thieves haunting you later on down the road. Good luck!
