Unemployed. Will debt consolidators work with me?

Just have a simple question, if I do not work will a debt consolidation place work with me?

Well that's the problem. I cannot prove a steady source of income, I do however have some money coming in and could make payments.
Considering I already got in over my head with credit, I'm not sure anyone including a Debt con. would take my *word* on whether I had income or not and would need proof.
